Jenny B Biography
Jenny was born in Catania the 20th of July 1972 from Sicilian mother and Senegalese father. She grows up in Reggio Emilia, her step parents' town. She went to Bologna University where she frequented the Philosophy and Letters faculty. Her musical career begins at a very early age, when she was 15 years old. On her career she can boast exceptional partners: she studied jazz singing at the C.P.M. in Milan from Tiziana Ghiglioni, she has been a coral singer for Zucchero in his "Urlo Tour" and in his album "Spirito Divino", Zucchero selected her initially for his video "Pelo nell'Uovo", which won the World Grammy Award in Montercarlo in 1993, but he was astonished by her vocal capabilities; she also worked with Ligabue (in his album "Buon Compleanno Elvis"), with Celentano, with Gemelli Diversi (it was her female voice who conquered Italy with the song "Un attimo ancora") and with Piotta ("La mossa del giaguaro"). She has given her voice to a few dance projects, be these under different name and with the aspect of various "front girls", or under her own name (although a few times it was Jenny Bee). It was hers, in fact, the voice behind the super hit "The rhythm of the night" under the name of Corona (the "image" girl of this record project was Olga De Sousa), and it was still Jenny giving her voice to J. K. in "You & I" and "You make me feel good" hits. It was again Jenny giving her voice for the hits of Playahitty "The summer is magic" and "1,2,3 train with me". The list is very long and it is difficult to be able to list all these songs. Jenny B. has also been part of a band, the "Funky Company", with whom she registered two records, "Tendency of Love" in 1995 and "Everytime" in 1997. The band was formed in 1994 from an initiative of Ivano Borgazzi, piano player and composer. All this and much more is part of Jenny career before reaching the stage of Sanremo Festival in the year 2000. Jenny B. was the first coloured artist to step on the Ariston theatre since the Seventies. She presented "Semplice sai", with lyrics written by herself (it was the first time she was writing a song in Italian, before this, her lyrics were in English), she won and convinced with "Semplice sai" written by herself on the score by Frank Minoia, Marina Rei's writer. With "Semplice sai" Jenny B. also won the Critics Award named Mia Martina (ex aequo with the duet Tiro Mancino and Riccardo Sanigallia). Right from her first show on the stage she conquers and convinces the public with her incredible vocal capabilities, with her perfect handling of the stage to the point that many voices do pair her to highly rated singers like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Giorgia Her first solo record "Come un sogno" came out on stores 9 months after the Sanremo participation, sign this of a profound respect towards the public as she could have taken advantage of the echo of the show but she preferred to wait and register the record after all this time so to give to the public a better quality album. In 2001 Jenny takes part by right to Sanremo Festival. The song is called "Anche tu", a splendid romantic ballade specially written for her, bearing in mind her notable vocal extension, by Mattia Bazar leaders, Giancarlo Golzi and Piero Cassano, in this edition of the festival, Jenny ends up in sixth place. Follow other partnerships, in 2002 with F. R. with the song "Love is the music" (which reached a discrete popularity abroad and in the house sector) and in the summer of 2003 comes out the single recorded with Alan Sorrenti "Paradiso beach" which a few times has been the "motif" of a tv programme (up until 2004) for the show girls. Since January 2004 Jenny B. started to work full time with the team of "La Corrida" as the lead vocal singer of the orchestra directed by Roberto Pregadio. Every Saturdays Jenny shows off her magnitude performing a medley of 4 songs from the Sixties, ranging from the melodic to the rock music, with the same mightiness which characterize her. After two editions of "La Corrida" and after she took part of the Jazz project "The Invisible Session" intensely playing 6 out of the 10 songs of the album, Jenny took part to the third serial tv reality "Music Farm" and her great singing and performing capabilities convinced the jury so much that they granted her, for the first time in the tv reality show, the "Jury Award". Her last partnership is with Massimo Ranieri for the cover of the renowed song "La voce del silenzio" made successful by Dionne Warwick.
After their collaboration in "To the beat", Favretto and Jenny B worked together in this new track, called "First floor".
Available only on the digital stores, the release contains four versions: the Original one, a Remix by Favretto himself, a very Radio-friendly version and also the great Remix by Diego Donati vs F&A Factor.
"First Floor" is available on beatport and on all the major digital stores.
