Hmm... Me. Yes. Well, music makes me happy, from the heaviest of metal to the mellowest of mellow and all colours and shapes in between. I make pretty pictures. I like dark songs. I play lots of instruments, some extremely badly, but it's all good fun. Cheese also makes me happy, except for the brie I had over Christmas which I'm now convinced was actually dairylea with cotton wool on it...
Right, well I haven't updated this thing for what seems like years, so it's about time I put some excuses up! This page is meant to be for my solo project but since the last gig about 18 months ago it's fallen by the wayside due to a multitude of other musical adventures (see below) and working silly hours... There will shortly be more music appearing under the Jenny Newton moniker, but I'm not quite sure what form it will take as yet. It's probably going to be a bit different from the last batch though and will involve various collaborations, more news to follow soon...
On the subject of collaborations, I've recorded some violins for my brother Chris for the Partician project, he's doing some amazing stuff, I urge you to go and check it out: www.myspace.com/lostcauserecordings. We're shortly going to be recording a new EP dedicated to the marvellous Mr Pix who is sadly no longer with us, with all proceeds going to Bristol Dogs and Cats Home. Rumour has it that it may also feature special guest musicians including other mystery members of the Newton clan, although this has yet to be confirmed (i.e. we haven't told them yet!)
Wake is still ticking over and writing new material, hopefully we'll be gigging again very soon, keep an eye out over on our Myspace page: www.myspace.com/wakegroup. I'm also still playing violin with the mighty fbcfabric & reindeer: www.myspace.com/fbcfabricandreindeer.
Exciting things are afoot with regards to other projects I've been working with - I've recently been putting strings down on albums by 2econd Class Citizen (www.myspace.com/2econdclasscitizen) and lmntl819 & reindeer (www.myspace.com/lmntl819reindeer) both of whom have been great to work with and I'm really looking forward to the final results, both albums are going to be corking. The lmntl819 & reindeer album is entitled 'Views From the Psychedelic Deathcab' and is due for release very soon on Milled Pavement records, see flyer below, and the 2econd Class Citizen album should be following shortly after.
Also in the pipeline is an album by an as yet untitled project comprising of myself on violin, Neville Rose on classical guitar and Dan Buskell on tabla - after playing a few gigs (and weddings!) we've decided it's high time we recorded what we've been up to as it does seem to sound rather lovely. (Quick update - I've now uploaded some of our jams, the ones that are currently up there are from our first proper rehearsal as a trio and a quick parental advisory - Nev can occasionally be heard swearing at wrong notes!)
So there are my excuses for not having done any more work on my solo project, I will however rectify the situation as soon as possible, in the meantime please do explore the above links to my other musical escapades!
About time too! Looking forward to hearing the project with Nev and Dan, loved hearing you folks play. Yikes, the tribute record is public news now, the pressure is on! :) Better brew up a fresh pot of Dave Mustaine's finest and get cracking! Talk soon sis. X
Without your great talent this thing wouldn't be what it is today, and we are forever grateful for that. You've helped shape the deathcab into this monster of an album. You hold a great Gift, and thank you ever so much for putting your heart into this project.
Hope all's well in your world. aAlbums almost done and the strings sound sooper lush! Your stealth like skills have really given it some extra depth... Hope to see you soon big huge peace with extra carrot cake! A x
