Jens Carelius from Sandvika, a small town just outside Oslo, sings and plays acoustic folkrock.
With his rare and seducing voice, he delivers a raw and honest sound. The poetic presence in his lyrics and the bluesy & driving guitarplaying, creates a rare & profound expression which can’t be ingored.
Playing through different lineups in several band, Jens Carelius has, as a bandleader being able to grow towards the musician he is today. With the blues as a spine, he began writing songs as a vocalist & gituarist. As a modest being, his easy going and characteristic way of singing soon become a trademark. ” I was always very uncomfortable singing out loud. With a constant feeling that i couldn’t sing, i was terrified that the neighbours would hear me. So i sang in the lowest volume I could.His vocals recembles an older man, as a young man with a old voice.
During summer 2007, his debut album, the first songs, was recorded in Oslo. With the key essence of the British folk music scene during the 50s and 60’s, and the honesty and directness in the blues, the album was recorded in just a couple of days.
The lyrics describes Carelius as a young talent. A young man's travel and the downdrunken love for "no good women", breathes through the lyrics. As an eager poetry reader, the words are carefully balanced. Most of the tracks is being represented by Carelius alone with his guitar. And the quality of the album stands out, the writing, the tones, and his honesty will display a talent already on it’s way.
