this is a journey through the world of Jazz-Rock and Modern Fusion.
Influenced by guitar players like Mike Stern, Robben Ford, Gary Moore, Michel Cusson to name but a few, Jens Christian Mayer has created a very entertaining fusion record with aggresive songs like the title track "Steppin'up" to smoother tasteful ballads like Yellow Shirt and an exraordinary funky guitar version of Suzanne Vega's "Toms Diner".
Supported by his long-time rhythm section with Pilou Wurtz on bass and Didier Hoffmann on drums, you can find two big names on this album: Extraordinary sax virtuoso Franck Wolf who is a member of Birelli Lagrenes band and Fusion legend Jamie Glaser (ex Jean-Luc Ponty and Chick Corea) on guitar.
