JENSON-Interview for Italian television
Jenson was born on a star, galaxy 158, and after having spent a few years there, he decided to come over on planet Earth, sometimes England, sometimes Italy...since then he dedicated all his life to music and art. on planet Earth he met his unique and wonderful band!
The project " Legend Of Music " actually started off in November 2002, when Jenson (songwriter/singer) met the legendary drummer Marco Maggiore at his school of art and music.
The two young guys right from the very beginning got on well, and most importantly they discover to have a lot of things in common, they have affinity in many ways, and things gradually got better and better, they soon found to have a great potential when put together.
They feel the same for many things: The artistic and music formation, dedication to the project, work pace and reliability.
Without wasting time they began at full speed to organise ideas, and as soon as possible they started working on the songs, some of them written previously by Jenson, and others written while they were working on the actual project.
After having spent a few time with the boys, Jenson told me: " You know...my grandest ambition is to write songs that easily lead anybody on a star...every time a person see a star in the sky, I want that person to think about Jenson and his songs ".
During the making of the demos of their debut album, the pre-production tracks have been carried out by the duo only, aware of the fact that the combination between them just works, and has a lot of personality and style.
After having spent a few time as a duo working single minded and very accurately on their songs, Jenson and Marco needed a band, a good one, so they started to "Look around" and try to find out the missing elements.
Marco decided to trust the "Natural selection" no auditions, no advertisements in any kind of newspaper.
" Yeah, of course we wanted a great band, but at the same time we also wanted friends...and let me tell you it's almost impossible to find this sort of things in a newspaper " Marco once said to me.
Marco in particular had just been through an unpleasant situation and he wanted to choose the rest of the band in the most natural way possible.
A lot of good and not so good musician alternated and followed one another before the recording took place and all the elements clicked into place, but it's really a common thing having trouble with this sort of things, and then it's always difficult to find the right people and mainly for such a peculiar and ambitious project as this one.
The two boys remembered that in their old school there was a good bass player, extremely reliable to work with, " someone you can trust " they say, someone with a very serious approach to music: Alex Perosin .
Alex is a very good bass player and really sensitive with a lot of passion for his instrument, he's exactly the kind of bass player Jenson needed.
The last element to become part of the project is the guitarist Fabio Beltramini .
He is a very eclectic musician, he his talented with a supremely taste in music, due to the fact that he studied and gained a diploma at the 'Conservatorio di Mialno', where he studied trumpet.
Fabio, an old friend of Marco, has a huge guitar sound, something that grabs you, very vibrating and powerful, he's just the perfect element to complete the band.
Il progetto "Legend Of Music" nasce nel novembre del 2002 dall'incontro di Massimo Zanusso , compositore e cantante in arte "Jenson" e Marco Maggiore batterista.
Impegnati entrambi nel conseguimento del diploma professionale presso il N.A.M.M; il primo come tecnico del suono ed il secondo come strumentista esecutore (batteria con Tullio De Piscopo) ed arrangiatore.
I due appena conosciutisi scoprono di avere grandi affinità sia riguardo alla formazione artistica, sia per quello che riguarda ritmi di lavoro, dedizione al progetto e serietà; cominciano così a lavorare su pezzi scritti in precedenza da Jenson, riarrangiandoli e, durante il lavoro nascono nuovi motivi che prendendo forma e colore, diventeranno materiale integrante per la realizzazione del disco che vedono come punto di "arrivo/partenza" di un'esperienza estremamente creativa.
Durante la realizzazione della DEMO di pre-produzione, decidono di lavorare in duo, coscienti del fatto che il binomio ha molta personalità e funzionalità.
Solamente dopo mesi passati a costruire materiale, trovandosi nella necessita' di formare una band, cominciano a "guardarsi intorno" per trovare gli elementi mancanti.
Nessuna audizione, nessuna inserzione su giornali, Marco reduce da moltissime esperienze, cover bands, situazioni jazz, turni in studio, bands di musica originale e fresco di una brutta delusione, decide di affidare il progetto alla "selezione naturale": molti sono i musicisti che si sono avvicendati prima della reale apertura delle registrazioni, ma è difficile trovare le persone giuste per un progetto che ha questo grado di particolarità e personalità.
Marco Ricorda che sempre nella stessa scuola, il NAMM, c'era un bassista estremamente serio ed affidabile e con una buona preparazione ed una spiccata sensibilità artistica, proprio il genere di caratteristiche che servono per dar vita a quello che lui e Jenson hanno in testa: Alex Perosin con il quale lavora tuttora nel corpo docenti dell'Accademia Vivaldi di Bollate.
L'ultimo elemento entrato nella band, ma solo in termini di tempo, è Fabio Beltramini, un musicista a 360 gradi dotato di un gusto musicale estremamente raffinato grazie anche alla durissima formazione classica, (Conservatorio di Milano) è armato di una preparazione armonica sicura e priva di sbavature.
Con l'enorme suono delle sue chitarre è senza dubbio l'anima rock della band, proprio quello che mancava per chiudere il cerchio e costituire parte integrante del progetto JENSON.
sul sound purtroppo non posso dire niente perché al concerto a legnano non c'ero... :( ma la giacca bianca e il mezzo guanto verde di jenson sono una scelta molto azzeccata ^_^
