Who is Jeordie?
Submerged into the Southwest music scene but a transplant from the east coast, Jeordie has a new way of approaching music and it's not ever set in stone. Being a daughter of 1960's musical artist Melanie ("Brand New Key," "Lay Down," "Beautiful People") she has performed on stage since age five. Her family life always revolved around music & while it may have been a very "gypsy" kind of lifestyle, she wouldn't have traded it for the world.
Singing along side her mother and seeing the magic of a worldwide fan base, Jeordie's goal has always been to share her own music with audiences everywhere. And with some words of wisdom from her mom ("Make music your life"), she set out to do just that.
The best part about Jeordie, the person and her music, is that there is very little distinction between the two. Considering how the music industry often blurs the lines of reality for profit, that is the surest sign that an act is anything but "an act."
At age eighteen, Jeordie and her sister Leilah recorded an album under the band name Safka. The album "Foreign Film" was written up in Billboard and given rave reviews as an up and coming band. They later recorded "About You" with their brother Beau Jarred, who co-produced this album with the sisters. It was a wonderful experience for them as siblings and family. Jeordie believes it was working on that project with them that helped develop her own unique style as a musical artist. She knew she wanted to perform as a solo artist.
Jeordie has since performed at festivals, state fairs and arenas of all different sizes including "The Kerrville Folk Festival Texas," "A Day In The Garden Woodstock Reunion 1998," as well as "The Winnipeg Folk Fest, Canada." She has also performed as a supporting act for Dido, Jewel, Indigo Girls, and Sade.
Her sound is a modern mix of pop themes and folk guitar. Currently residing in Phoenix AZ, she is generating a growing base of listeners by remaining active in the Southwest music scene.
Her latest CD entitled "Can I Ask You Something?" has been selling on CDBaby.com and to her live audiences. On a recent tour, her mother brought along some of Jeordie's albums and had no problem selling out of them at her first performances. In light of this demand, Jeordie has plans of joining her mother on her next European tour this year.
She is currently unsigned and seeking label representation & working on two new musical projects due to be out next year; one of them being a collection of live recordings entitled "Jeordie Bootlegs" . This will be a collection of some of her best musical recordings performed live in AZ.
She has a catalog of music that ranges from up beat and positive to introspective and melancholy and has the ability to create visual imagery, through her lyrics, melodies and performances.
Jeordie formed a duo six years ago with lead guitarist Jason Messer. They met by chance at a local Phoenix Guitar Center where Jason had been working at the time. They walked into the guitar room and have been performing together ever since. The combo gives the stage an eclectic rock vibe & they each have unique styles that come together naturally.
Jeordies music sends out positive messages and friendly advice, on a melodic platform . Occasionally she'll throw in an unsuspecting cover or two, and maybe even one of "mom's" songs, that she sang backup on for years. Jeordie is a true performer, so the best way to hear her music is live!
