About me:

....
JERABEK is the story of a family that struggles with the cost of losing one son and the price of holding on to another. The documentary chronicles the changes in the lives of a small town Midwestern family after their 18-year-old son and brother is killed in Iraq.

PFC Ryan Jerabek was among 12 Marines killed in Ramadi on April 6, 2004 during a well organized ambush by insurgents. Widely covered by the press, the attack marked one of the deadliest days for American troops in Iraqi since President Bush declared the end of major combat operations nearly a year before. Philadelphia Inquirer photographer David Swanson was embedded with the Marines and documented the hours and days surrounding the ambush. His images, along with photos previously withheld by the government, present a picture of war much of the public has not seen. So do the uncensored accounts of Marines who reveal how unprepared they were for the type of war they encountered.

The movie JERABEK is a gripping look at the human cost of war. Beyond the politics, the headlines and the statistics, the film shows the toll one death takes on a family, a Marine unit and a community that confronts the reality of war. "We've paid a price" says Ken Jerabek.
