Jeremy's Blurbs |
About me:
Jeremy is finishing up a degree in Communications. He likes to do good work on web pages and sites and to deconstruct the man (as well as damning him).
Jeremy would like you to contact him if you are looking to pay someone for either of these things. Also if you know why MySpace is so badly written, he really does want to understand that one.
You can find Jeremy at his website Simian Uprising (RSS feed, LJ feed). He posts pictures and ideas there sometimes.
About This MySpace Page and Its Style:
I hacked this MySpace style from one I found here. I did this because the default MySpace style is a shame unto human beings and their ability to sense color. I didn't write my own template from scratch because it is nearly impossible given the attrocious code the wannabe templater is faced with.
This template is simple and maybe even elegant, really it's an example of what I think a site like this should look like. Wouldn't you rather look at this for everyones profile than the blue/orange drivel MySpace wants you to? Yes, yes you would.
A Proposition:
Instead of keeping the default style to avoid looking like you're trying (as trying reeks of effort) why not create a new default? Admittedly, this isn't a perfect template by any stretch, but it's as good as the MySpace's offering and only 8% as ugly.
So here's the plan. I put up the code and instructions to use it and everyone who can't be bothered to use anything but the default follows the quick instructions to reset their default to this. Then all of a sudden MySpace looks way better than it did. Maybe NewsCorp will actually notice and improve their own defaults/code to compete. Wouldn't that be nice?
All I ask is that, if you feel like it, you keep the link or banner-link back to the source code, so that as many people as possible can make the switch. If you don't want to clutter up your page with it, no problem, just having a nicer page is 62.5% of the battle!
(Click the banner to get the code and instructions)

Who I'd like to meet:
I kind of feel like MySpace is better used as a way of bringing the people you know in real life together and making contact between them smoother (i.e. I started dating a friend of a friend because it was so easy to get in touch on MySpace after we met briefly in person), so I guess I'm trying to meet people I already know.
Oh yeah, I'm also trying to meet emo kids with asymmetrical hair that sweeps across their foreheads, but only if photos of them are taken exclusively from above and in high-contrast black and white. Those kinds of people are awesome.
