Song Highlights
"Lullaby" is sung by Chaka Kahn with her usual depth and emotional range and is one of the high points of the album. Lullaby has been hailed by many music insiders as the world's first true lullaby.
The lyric, penned by Faith Clark, is a triumph of imagery, metaphor and calming peace. The opening phrase captures you and leads you through the piece with grace. The title song "Awakening" is based on a Chopin Prelude No 42, where Lubbock showcases the melody in vocalise, sung most beautifully by Grammy Winner Darlene Koldenhoven. His orchestration choices and harmonic movement throughout the piece are without peer.
"How Many Lives To Go?" speaks of the tragic and useless slaughter of so many innocent people caught in the crossfire of human aggression.
