Ok here's the deal. I decided write this bio myself in first person because when I read about someone I prefer to hear what they have to say about themselves not what someone said about them.
I am from Texas, and was born into a pretty musical family. I have one brother and one sister both of which I am older and taller than. I started playing guitar when I was 15. At first it was pretty much just Rock music, but when everyone around me started listening to heavier stuff I found myself gravitating towards Blues. After a few years of different mixtures of Rock and Blues I began to get bored. Then a friend of mine, Eric Swanson, recommended I give Jazz a try and he played me a John Scofield cd "A Gogo". I loved it and jumped in head first. I spent a long, confusing time trying figure out if I was Rock, Jazz, or Blues musician. I felt like I had to pick one and focus on it, and whenever I did I tended to get bored as there are elements of each style I love and also some I don't. I am happiest blending bits of each. The music you hear on this page while a little more Rock than anything has strong ties to Jazz and Blues. I am also a firm believer that song performance and song writing go hand in hand. And for me proficiency in both the songwriting and performing craft are a must.
One of the things I love about Blues is that there can be so much life in the music and in just one note. It doesn't matter how sad the song is B.B. King is singing I always feel great when I hear him. I want people to enjoy the songs I have written and feel good when they listen to them. I have happy songs to offer and sad ones but my goal as a musician is to entertain you, tell you a story, and make you feel good.
Someone really cool put this together for me!! I hope you like it!
