About me:
Guess it's time for an update. Dec. 2008
I'm a life long resident of Gainesville, Ga. A graduate of the Commercial Photography program at North Georgia Tech in Clarkesville, Ga. I've always loved the outdoors, arts, music, theatre, & photography. I'm not musically gifted but I do enjoy good music, concerts etc. and am talented with a camera. Love to hike and camp whenever I get a chance both by myself and with family or friends. I have been very blessed to have such a wonderful family most of who live here in town.
Some of the places I've been camping to in the last couple years Cloudland Canyon State Park (GA), Vogel State Park (GA), Upper Chattahoochee River Campground (GA), Nacoochee Valley (GA), Cheoah Point Campground & hiking in the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest (NC), Lake Winfield Scott (GA), the Len Foote Hike Inn (GA) a great place to go espically if you like a bed and great meal at the end of your 5 mile hike. I'll be heading over to South Carolina to camp & hike at Table Rock State Park this spring, as well as up to Vogel a couple times, as well as some other places & might pack a tent and do an overnight backpacking trip on the AT.
Over the last year I've built a camper out of a 6x12 cargo trailer and have really enjoyed using it. It's nice to pull into camp and not have to setup a tent unless you want to or have time to. It's complete with bathroom, fridge, microwave, & on board water supply. I still tent camp some as it's my favorite way to camp. Also like to backpack every once in a great while. Will post photos at some point of the camper.
Was given two sit on top kayaks earlier in the year and have enjoyed using those.
See some of my photography scrolling by above. See more at www.LandersStudios.com.
I enjoy doing nature, landsape, wildflower photography as well as architectural interior shots on 4x5 view camera of traditional religious spaces. I don't do portrait / wedding photography unless somone really twists my arm into doing it. I opened my own business Landers Photographihc Arts in 1998 as a part time thing. Currently I sell photos online and at the occcasional show. Member: National Association of Photoshop Professionals, Artist Member of the Quinlan Visual Arts Center.
Church has always been an important part of my life, which is also where I work as Facility Manager. I've been a member all my life and worked there since 1995 with a variety of job titles.
I served on the Parish Life Committee for quite a few years and have since hung up my PL hat to take on being Co Chair for the Grace Church Hike Group. We hike on the second Saturday of each month on a trail somewhere in Northeast Ga or surrounding areas. We alternate a regular hike with a day on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia. It may take us a while but our goal is to complete the Ga section. As of November 08 we've hiked From Nimblewill Gap to Jarrard Gap, plus Blood Mt. to Hogpen Gap.
I'm also Co Chair of "Festival of the Arts" which is a month long art exhibit featuring the artists of Grace Church. The show takes place every other year (Fall of 2010 is the next one) and is quite a large undertaking involving several different groups in the church. Our first show was in 2004 as a one time one weekend event and was such a success that we planned another for 2006 as a month long show. The 2008 show included artwork from 100+ artists, (member artists, students from our preschool, Sunday School Classes, & some of our youth), various programs on art on the Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, a preview party, our choir performed Mendelssohn's Oratorio Elijah, 2 choral concerts by the Lanier Chamber Singers. The Festival is truly a wonderful event in the life of the parish and a great way to bring everyone together. I am so thankful to all those who put in lots of hours to make it happen.
I'm involved with The Gainesville Theatre Alliance (GTA) as a member of Theatre Wings, the community support group that helps GTA with their shows. I have served as Vice President and Production Chair in the past as well as a board member. I currently help usher the occasional show. I also serve on the board of the Theare Wings Endowment Fund.
Who I'd like to meet: A young lady with a great personality, is outgoing, funny, is great with children & loves the outdoors, hiking, camping, kayaking, etc.
