i guess i will start with the time that i asked Christ Jesus to be King over my life. i was about 14 years old and at the time, spent most all of my energy skateboarding anytime, anywhere, and everywhere. it was just like any other day, i was having a great time skating a session with my cousin dana smith and good friend kurby pullum in good ole downtown jackson, missouri. if i can remember right it was very late at night and this guy, butch gast, came up to us and shared the message of the gospel. we all accepted CHRIST into our hearts that night. unfortunately, i continued to live a life somewhat distant from the LORD. i do however remember getting this conviction and newfound conscience. i didn't really understand what it meant to live for God but the Holy Spirit knew what would come of me. i guess you can say the cares of the world around me were not dealt with as if yet.
in january of 1993 i rededicated my life to CHRIST, got water baptized by pastor jack, and have been living for Christ since that day.
my first portion of serving in the ministry started around feb of 1993 on a worship team in san clemente, california. a guy named jim berkley scooped me up while i was in a guitar shop (coast music) in san clemente. as jim and i conversed he found out i had just given my life back to CHRIST. he took me in, taught me the bass, and and allowed me to humbly play on stage. the church needed a bass player and i wanted to serve, so there you go. it was cool, something i had always wanted to do anyway, now it was for GOD. as time went on i was asked to try to sing a solo part in the annual christmas play. they heard me sing and took the bass away. gosh i was shocked.
later on my friend marlena bermoy who later became my worship leader and mentor , saw the potential and pulled me out of the back and put me in front of a microphone. i thank GOD for her because of that. she did what GOD told her to do and developed me into the worship leader i am today. after i ministered alongside marlena and her family, our families parted ways as GOD sent us out. i then met habib bardowell who is to this day continuing to impart and develop me into a worshipper. i thank GOD for him as well. i am currently serving as director of worship arts at new mckendree's south campus (www.newmckendree.org) in jackson, missouri.
"It is the deepest desire of my heart to express worship corporately with other believers that long for that personal touch of Christ through music. I am not your typical artist/worshipper. Although I bring a contemporary feel and atmosphere, I generally tend to make the performance (if that is what it is called) an open time of love and expression towards God. I am not a performer, I am a worshipper who desires others not to look at me as a performer but to come alongside me and worship the one who deserves all of our attention. I believe that our worship, through musical expression, is unique and personal. God wants an inward motivated worship that does not call attention to self. That is what I desire and I hope that is what everyone will experience through the music God has given me."
