During the Summer months the Jericho Youth Club is often held outside on St. Barnabas School field. Here is a slideshow showing some of the club's recent outdoor activities:
Do you like to sing? Write lyrics? Play an instrument? If you're aged between 11 and 19 and a member of the Jericho Youth Club you can book a free recording session and take home a CD of your performance. Talk to Mick or Ana at the club for more details. Here are some photos of Jericho Youth Club members in the recording studio:
On Monday 20th July 2009, 16 young people and 5 Youth Workers from the Jericho Youth Club spent a day at Youlbury Scout Activity Centre in Boars Hill, Oxford. Youlbury is set in beautiful woodland and as well as having great fun on the Zip-wire, the 3-G swing and Jacob's Ladder we all enjoyed a delicious Barbeque around the campfire. See the slide-show below:
On Friday 13th February we held a 'Challenge the Lord Mayor' Pool Competition. Many thanks to Oxford's Lord Mayor Susanna Pressel for her time and support. Some photos below:
The Jericho Youth Club had its opening night at the Jericho Community Centre on 16th January 2009 and continues to run every Friday evening from 7-9pm with a great turn out of young people from the Jericho area each week. Regular activites include table-tennis, pool, air-hockey, Nintendo Wii, karaoke, two laptops and a very popular tuckshop staffed by Alison and Debbie. Events so far have included a 'Challenge the Lord Mayor' Pool Competition featuring the impressive cue talents of Susanna Pressel (only one Youth Club member managed to beat her!) The club has also hosted regular Friday evening body-popping and hip-hop style dance classes run by inspirational dancers Zia and Rich. Some of the Youth Club members are also involved in a Jericho Youth Club t-shirt/mug/mousemat design project run by Emma, a local artist. The finished products, designed by the children will be on sale at the Jericho Street Fair to raise funds for the Club. Future activities being planned include a residential weekend at an outdoor activity centre, beauty treatment classes, drama sessions and a recording studio workshop. We'd love to hear from anyone who is interested in running a sports or drama activity at the Club.
