Jermook, whose namesake is a small town in Armenia famous for its mineral springs, was born in autumn 2002 as an independent creative experiment of people with different musical backgrounds and ideas. The band is composed of Nick Zavriev, known for his electronic project Ambidextrous, and two former members of the alternative rock band Placenta – singer Arusyak Mirzoyan and bass player Sergey Moscovkin.
The identifying feature of the band is its unique combination of rock, electronica, pop and ethnic traditions (Arusyak was born and raised in Armenia). Each of Jermook’s members brings their own musical style to the mix. The resulting combination reflects the sounds of such groups as Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, UNKLE, A Perfect Circle, Portishhead.
Jermook performs its own original music, which is the result of the collective efforts of all its members.
The band took to the stage in 2005. Since then Jermook has held numerous concerts in Moscow and other cities. This includes a double-billing Lali Puna, participation in the Avant-2005 international festival together with the NLF3 (France), Hood (UK) and Jamie Lidell, as well as participation in Russia’s largest rock-music festival Nashestvie and the Festival of Modern Art Territoria together with Tonearm (USA), Alina Simone, Fly!, Discrete Encounter, Spielerfrau, British Polar bear, Leafcutter John and Cibelle.
Jermook’s debut album Have a Nice Trip was released in May 2006 by the Shum record label in Moscow. By the time of the album’s released several of the band’s songs had already appeared in the CD collections Natural Selection (Shum) and Invisible music (Mystery of sound). Jermook’s new album includes 13 songs, sung variously in Armenian, English and Russia. The lyrics are composed by Arusyak, and several of the Armenian songs are inspired by the works of famous Armenian poets. The lyrics of the sole Russian song Nejnee Nejnovo come from the eponymous poem of Osip Mandelshtam).
The album’s music varies from ethnic trip-hop and intellectual electronica to warm dance indi-pop. Since its release several songs have been circulating the airwaves of Moscow and Yerevan (Armenia) radio, including the popular Moscow radio stations Silver Rain (www.silver.ru) and Richter-FM at 100.1 FM.

Dear friend! I'm happy to announce The new free releases from MOX!
Monstaar Records has re-released his debut album «Insects» (originally 2002). MOX gives an opportunity to explore his bizarre and captivating worlds, blending ambient, dub, IDM, Warpwise electronica with elements of hip-hop, house, classical minimalism and humour – that was reflected in «Insects» in full measure. Currently, but within a limited period of time, "Insects" is free-downloadable - http://www.monstaar.com/free/. Hurry up!
Mrs Vee has released a joint album of MOX and Pitch «Intoxicated Divinity». The tracks on the album don't belong to one style (all music is electronic and experimental, though) – there's things of dub with kraut-rock bias, Eno-ish instrumentals, glitch, downtempo, dark-ambient, house and more. The cover uses the original picture by Pitch. «Intoxicated Divinity» is free for download . You only are to register to get it - http://www.mrsveerecordings.co.uk/audvee30/register.php
Our new album "Herbarium" is
out now on CdBaby (MP3 so far, physical CD is on its way).
Diverse palette of styles (post-rock,
ambient, electronica, trip-hop, with elements of noise, dub,
neoclassic and free improvisation), united by cinematic, slightly
pensive mood.
«Herbarium» is called so
because of heterogeneity of «songs», which can be
compared to miscellaneous leaves in the album, still being belonged
to the family of trees. Trying to avoid non-alive metaphors here,
only thought of diversity and warm and innermost feeling that
herbarium is capable to conjure up. «... This leaf I picked up
in the park where I met her, and this - I sat by the river,
contemplating...». So tracks were created – one was captured
in some magic jam, another – recorded layer by layer and
meticulously mixed then, next – cut from previous sessions and so
on.
All compositions are united by Poostosh
sense of music – mostly pensive, spatial, tender and experimental.
There's a lot of soul and charisma in every leaf... So please let
your soul look over our HERBARIUM.
Thank you very much for your friendship.
I'm going to put unique videos you wouldn't find somewhere else, as well as private pictures, tour info and many many more on my page.
Be the first to check this cool stuff out!
Love.
