Sounds Like
The purr of a tractor in the next holler.
The hum of the bees in the plum trees on an early spring morning.
The whine of a skillsaw
The clink of the ice cubes in your sweet tea glass on the porch after work.
Your dog barking at a coon cornered under the house
Jerry Logan plays stand up bass, guitar, Dobro, lap steel, sings in a rich baritone and writes good songs. He has toured and recorded with some fine musicians, including, Bob Paisley and Southern Grass, The Schankmans, Barry and Holly Tashian, Peter Rowan and Laurie Lewis. More recently, Jerry has formed his own band, "Loganville". Members include Jim Barnes on lead guitar, Jay Morningstar on acoustic guitar, Dean Powell on drums, Reid Fisher on fiddle, Dave Magram on pedal steel and Jerry on stand-up bass. This band features Jerry's songwriting and has it's heart planted firmly in the country.
"Crossing the Border" and "Goodbye", are off Jerry's first cd, "One Red Rose" and were recorded by Garth Webber at Red Rooster Studios. The rest are recorded at his home studio with Jerry playing all the instruments.
Julay Brooks of Nightbirds fame has put together a great country/swing band called The Honky Tonk Dreamers! Jerry plays stand up bass, Tony Marcus on fiddle and guitar, Charlie Wallace on lap and pedal steel and of course, Julay on vocals and guitar. They have just recorded five songs so look for more on that later.
Jerry is also a talented silversmith and in some circles, is known as "The Jeweler to the Bluegrass Stars". He works with silver, copper, gold and semi-precious stones. Being a musician, lots of his designs are for musicians! Need a pair of silver Tele earrings with turquoise? How about a banjo pendant with a spot of amethyst? Ok, guitar strap conchos that spell your name? Silver & ebony bridge pins? You get the picture. Click on his website link under band info.
And, after having the slide show up for awhile, some clarification is in order. He is NOT naked! "It was Nashville heat, recording in a small isolation room, so to cool down, I took my shirt off".
Red Brown! You old Rockabilly Rebel, how the hell are you? Good to see you're still around and laying it down. Life in Hawaii is sweet and mellow - if it wasn't so nice, I would've had the next CD finished a long time ago. Let me know if you need steel tracks on anything - I've gotten pretty good at flying tracks around the world. Later, N.
