I have played mainly acoustic guitar for years and years and years, played everything that’s possible on it – picked, strummed, hit, slapped, slid on it, stuffed things under the strings, digitised it… and it keeps coming back for more!
For years I have played mainly solo with the exception of Nada, a duo consisting of myself and the late and wonderful Pete Barnes on percussion (Indian, African, South American etc), described by the press as “Ambient Indo-European Blues”.
I have become somewhat of a regular at the Croissant Neuf stage in Glastonbury Festival, but have performed at various other festies (Green Gathering, Off The Tracks, Stainsby, blah blah blah).
I have been busking in various parts of France and Spain, and played open mics wherever I could, San Francisco being the furthest away.
I have also supported artists such as Jah Wobble, Ali Farka Toure and Baka Beyond.
The CD Armchair traveller, with Pete Barnes, and featuring the tracks played here, is available from me.
Jerry is available for performances, workshops and studio sessions specialising in acoustic guitar.
The performances range from traditional acoustic finger style through to creative use of digital technology.
“A stunning guitar player who literally dips into contemporary jazz, Celtic harp-like sounds and ambient electronics.” – Glastonbury Festival program 1999
“This has to be one of the most fascinating and innovative albums I have ever heard… Jerry literally paints and sculpts with sound.” – Beth Webb, Traditional Music Maker Magazine
“Dexterity, coupled with outstanding musical clarity.” – Steve Tilston

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
