I was born in Shamrock Texas (pop. 2000 and dwindling) where you can see forever...and there's nothing to see. My musical influences included all the singer/songwriters from the 50's, 60's, 70's and beyond but can be summed up with Hank Williams, Buddy Holly, Rick Nelson, Elvis, Chuck Berry, The Beatles, The Eagles and many more. My Dad was a sound engineer with his own early morning radio show at radio statio KPAN in Hereford Texas and he later became a Southern Baptist Minister. My mother was one of five girls who all grew up on the farm and became school teachers. I remember her reading all the Fairy Tale Books to me when I was two years old. All that rhyming stuck in my head and allowed me to 'think in poetic terms'....and has been invaluable to me as a songwriter. I sang onstage for the first time at the age of five or six and have never stopped. I am eternally grateful for the musical gifts I've inherited from both my parents. Having lived in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and California prior to moving to Tennessee in 1989 I've been very fortunate...as I continue to write and share my songs. When my Mother passed away October 18, 2006 it was the saddest day of my life. She was the glue that held our family together and I know she continues to watch over all of us and that she hears all my songs from her place in HEAVEN. GOD welcomed a brand new Angel when she arrived. Being able to write songs has been my salvation and refuge in many ways but most of all it has helped me deal with her loss. I continue to miss her every second of every minute of every day. She gave me the very best parts of who I am and I know that we'll be together again when my time on Earth is through. Every song I write, play, and sing is dedicated to her. She will live on in our hearts forever. This is for you Mom and thankyou for being the best Mother anyone could ever ask for and for being my most dedicated fan. HEY---GUITAR and WRANGLER both contain some of your favorite songs. I know that you are in a good place as you continue to listen.
