Jerry Teel moved from Alabama to NYC with a banjo on his knee in 1980. Soon after, he started his long career playing in many NYC Lower East Side bands. He was the founding member of the Honeymoon Killers . He played bass with The Chrome Cranks, Guitar in Boss Hog. He gave a hoot and a holler with Little Porkchop. Was the singer of the famed Knoxville Girls, and gave his best Southern Boy charm/wild man blues in Jerry Teel & The Big City Stompers.

Jerry owned The Funhouse recording studio on the corner of 4th Street and Ave. B for decades. He recorded, engineered and produced 100's of bands in that space. ( including little known bands as Oblivians, Demolition Dollrods, and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs ) He gave many a band their first real recordings. He sent some of them straight to the top and some back to the gutters of NYC. But it was all about the enjoyment of making music and making a living with something that was true to his heart.

The Funhouse moved to New Orleans in 2003. Jerry recorded a handful of bands before the Mighty Mississippi took the studio and his home as a dreadful sacrifice. Everything he owned and worked for was washed away in a matter of hours. No Gold Records, maybe some spray painted gold, but his livelihood destroyed none the less...The Gulf Of Mexico has never sounded so good.

Jerry has since relocated back to NYC and has reunited with his old buddies The Chrome Cranks for a brief reunion tour and new record " THE MURDER OF TIME ", A compilation released by Bang Records.

Presently, Jerry is again working with his song writing partner/ Wife, Pauline Owens-Teel, in their brand new project, CHICKEN SNAKE-- They are recording some down right dirty, rockin’, spooky Voodoo, chicken pickin’, finger lickin’ good tunes overflowing with Whisky, Sin, Redemption, Snake charmers, Broken Hearts, Cheatin' Ways, Possession and fast Rising Water in the very near future. This project is classic Teel, the real deal, no additives, or preservatives… So Stay tuned for further details. !
