City Without Walls	Jul 1 2009 9:39 PM JUNE 13 - AUGUST 5: ARTREACH XVII ArtReach XVII, the seventeenth season of City Without Walls’ award-winning education and exhibition program, opens on Saturday, June 13, 2009 with a free public reception from 6-8 pm at City Without Walls (cWOW), 6 Crawford Street, Newark, NJ 07102. Reception features live music by the Accidental Seabirds with ArtReach mentor Ibrahim Ahmed III. The exhibition is free and open to the public Thursdays - Saturdays 12-6pm through August 5, 2009. Directions 18 aspiring young artists • 15 professional artist mentors • 16 years of award-winning arts education programing. ArtReach nurtures the next generation of artists and arts leaders. Visual artists from the Newark area mentor gifted high school students in their studios for a semester. Interns receive real-world gallery experience. Prominent artists lecture at Newark high schools. The program culminates with a professional exhibition. THE FEMALE PERSPECTIVE In celebration of Women's History Month, La Ola is looking for artwork made by women that describes the modern female experience from her own perspective. We want to show what being a woman is like, the roles they have to play, the issues, the stories, and daily minuit experiences that people seem to dismiss. We want to show from theeyes of women what their views about being one is, as this applies insociety. This is open to all mediums. OPEN TO WOMEN OF HUDSON COUNTY ONLY. Please send images with size, titles, and a brief statement to laola.org@gmail.com by February 20th, 2009. Work must be ready to hang by March 1st. Please note that a small entrance fee, part of the sales from the bar, andpercentage of art sale will be donated to local women groups of HudsonCounty.
