  • Bio

The Jersey Royale is an established musical force in the underground NYC/NJ music scene, combining funk/reggae/hip-hop with rock. Similar in sound to 311, SOJA,The Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Roots, The Jersey Royale is definitly a band you can dance and party with! Frontman Jay Jersey writes thought provoking and heart wrenching lyrics that guide much of TJR's music. The band consisting of childhood friends Peter McCourt, Powell Mark and Brian Dephillis has evolved their sound over the years to echo the heartfelt sentiment that Mr. Jersey conveys through a blend of several genres. The Jersey Royale is gearing up to release their first album in the spring of 2012 and since 2006 have been playing shows like madmen, hitting up the hippest tri-state/northeast venues and colleges, including: Mexacali Live (NJ), Sullivan Hall (NYC), FAT BABY (NYC), Crash Mansion (NYC), Kenny's Castaways (NYC) The Delancey (NYC), Blend (Ridgewood, NJ) Fontanas (NYC), The Loop Lounge (NJ), The University of Vermont (VT), The Crossroads (NJ), The Baggot Inn (NYC), Funk N' Waffles (Syracuse, NY), Blaggard's (NYC), The Charleston (Brooklyn), The Underscore (NYC), Brennan's Pub (VT), Rutgers University (NJ), Firewater's (NJ), Asbury Lanes (NJ), The Whiskey Bar (NJ),The Galapagos Arts Center (Brooklyn), 169 Bar (NYC), The Dubliner (Hoboken), Montclair State University (NJ), The Underpass (NJ), Jimmy Geez (NJ)Tobacco Road (NYC) Saints and Siners (NJ) and many more... TJR opened for jamband scene vets including Charlie Hunter Trio and our good friends Jounce, as well as songwriting legend Steve Earle. Come check out a TJR show and see what all this band is all about!!!!!!
