Bitter, Married, Bald and Tired multiply that times 10 and you have BIG MIKE! Big Mike has appeared on Russell Simmons presents Def Poetry Season 6 and is a member of the 2005 Nuyorican Slam Team. In 2002, he read his first peice at Serengeti Plains in Montclair, NJ. Since then he has performed at colleges and Universities up and down the east coast, at the National Poetry Slam and Southern Fried Regional. He placed 3rd at 13th Annual Southern Fried Regional Individual Slam Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2004, he was a member of the Central Jersey Slam Team and placed 3rd in OyaXclusives 2nd annual October"Slam"fest in Norfolk Va. He also opened for Slick Rick, Doug E Fresh, MC Lyte, and Wyclef at the 2004 National Hip-Hop Political Convention in Newark, NJ.
He is also active in the nonprofit organization NJ S.L.A.M (Supporting, Leading, Advocating and Mentoring), a group that educates and exposes young people to the arts.
On stage, Big Mike exudes energy and gives his all to entertain, educate, and have fun. His debut CD Reality Bytez, featuring his 14-year-old nephew JoeL, was released in 2004. He is currently working on a follow up CD entitled Everyone Hates Big Mike. HBO Def Poet Flowmentalz and Big Mike are working on a comedy and poetry show called Cometry.
Be it pop culture, politics or everyday family life, Big Mike brings honesty, wit, sarcasm, and passion to the stage. Expect BIG things from BIG Mike.
