"My musical influences vary drastically. Certainly Brasilian artists such as Djavan, Ivan Lins and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Arrangers such as Klaus Ogermann. Peter Gabriel, Tony Levin, James Taylor, Mitchell Froom, Frank Sinatra, Russ Kunkle, Jim Keltner and of course most importantly, my brother Rick Marotta, the reason I play drums for sure."
All phases of the recording process, from tracking to mastering. Music for media, voiceovers, film, TV, and radio. Four isolation rooms. All styles of productions and MIDI programming. Comfortable, relaxed atmosphere.
Work with world-class drummer/percussionist/producer JERRY MAROTTA!
(Peter Gabriel, Paul McCartney, Indigo Girls, Elvis Costello)
Extensive collection of new and vintage outboard gear, guitars, amps, drums, and percussion instruments.
Owner:
Jerry Marotta is an anomaly. A peculiar Picasso painting, a cubist conundrum, bursting onto the music scene with no explanation and no apology. Whether you know him for his seismic tribal tones with Peter Gabriel in the 70's and 80's, his intricate percussive rhythms with artists like Indigo Girls and Ani Difranco in the 90's, or the cavernous calliope conniptions with the Tony Levin Band in the last few years, he is a true force to be reckoned with.
But that doesn't even scratch the surface. Jerry is a fantastic singer, producer, arranger, and dabbler in many other instruments like guitar, saxophone, and keyboards as well. This regal Renaissance man is comfortable programming industrial beats on one hand while birthing earthly echoes on any object nearby, including the infamous garden weasel.
He has composed and recorded music for countless television shows, video games, and movies whilst churning out so many album credits that one must set aside a full day to really comprehend the stamp he has put on the music industry. In a world where most drummers and musicians all sound alike,
Jerry stands alone as a charismatic legend.
Jerry now divides his precious time between numerous sessions, The Tony Levin Band, the TV sitcom music, running his own studio in Woodstock , NY, Jersville, and his all new band Marotta Griegraber, whose debut album Waking The Day is now available.
From his early start with the band Orleans to Sarah McLachlan's latest CD, Jerry Marotta is a juggernaut, obliterating all stereotypes, redefining this millennium of what a modern drummer really is. From his homeland of Cleveland , Ohio to Upstate New York, where he currently resides, he is known throughout the world for his unique feel and vision.

Here's the Pete C and Flymax update for August '07. You're all getting the same letter. Call me and we can get personal!
It's been a great summer so far. Working a bunch and playing some golf. The Pete C track "Lick That Thing" is going to be featured in a Regent Film called "Fat Girls." Look for it in early October worldwide. Bedouin Soundclash's "Street Gospels" is dropping next week on the 21st on Side One Dummy, also worldwide. We recorded a lot of the record here at Flymax this year with Darryl Jenifer producing. I've also been helping Darryl with his solo release on ROIR records as well as the Bad Brains stadium anthem for the DC United soccer team.
Here at Flymax, we've upgraded the console to a 56 Channel Sony 5036 with uptown automation. The console also has 10 channels of API 212 Pre Amps and 10 channels of API 550S EQs. There are also 14 channels of transformer Hardy M1 pres. The console was at Sony Nashville and was meticulously maintained and heavily modded. This thing sounds sweet!
Mark Owen has been working here a lot and made some amazing recordings soon to be revealed! Mark was featured recently on the cover of EQ Mag and to quote them; "Mark is one of New York's quickest-rising, in-demand engineers, helping forge the sought after 'New York sound.' "
My friends from DFA Records were back in July to record basics for the next release from "Holy Ghost!" Thanks to Juan MacLean for running the ship while I was on vacation! There are ALOT of recently released and soon to be released records that were worked on here. Check out the top friends at the myspace page for more.
I've also playing drums and producing. You can check out the drumming on current releases from David Kitt, Ben Vita, Sean Lathrop, Kari Spieler, Bari Koral and Valen. Production on Ben Vita, Kari Spieler and Valen.

That's my new CD, "Deacon Blues", the straight ahead organ trio I've been wanting to do for years. It's getting great reviews and lots of radio play - and it's only Jazz; Go figure! The CD features some good friends, including two of my favorite guitarists, Mike DeMicco and the phenomenal Joe Beck. Danny Gottlieb lays down the groove with my brother Tony guesting on bass for a couple of tracks.
The CD is available on line at AMAZON.COM or at WOODSTOCK CD where they also have artist-signed copies in stock. (arguably making them worth less!)
Hi, just enjoying the space and inviting you to check out RIA's tune, Ready 4 Luv, which, based on listener reviews, has been chosen as R&B TRACK OF THE DAY (today, Saturday, May 26) by GarageBand.com Records! :) If you can figure out how to vote for it or post a review, please do! Thanks for your support and hope to return the favor soon. :)
We are acoustic designers, and we have some fresh demos from a new and small recording room, and if you have time, and if you like, please write something about quality of demo recordings you can find on our MySpace page. We design and build this room recently!!!
A lot of people have asked, but I've lost track of who. So this is to let you know that my new CD, "Deacon Blues", is finally available - from Motema's website (click on the CD image) or on Amazon.com. It features 2 of my favorite guitarists - Joe Beck & Mike DeMicco, drum legend Danny Gottlieb, my brother Tony on bass, and more.
Best wishes, and thanks for letting me do this little ad.

If I had a recording studio, I'd want it to be just like Jersville! Jerry Marotta is an anomaly. A peculiar Picasso painting, a cubist ... oh, wait. You already said that. Never mind.
