Heroes
My hero is not much older then me… I never thought I’d want to be like someone else around my age- always thought maturity and wisdom came the older you got, not true. My hero is my counselor, Shauna. She is a kind of person that has all sorts of positive traits I want to posses as well, to be a better person to myself, to others and as a mother.
Shauna works a regular day job and then works as a counselor at night- she never complains about being tired, always has a joke and really redefines what it means to be positive and selfless. In such a short time, I have really begun to grow and heal 10 years of pain and mental torment. It is amazing to be able to talk to someone and for the first time feel like I’m alone or at risk of being judged/betrayed.
I guess because we both got married too young, both have gone through a lot in life and she has had similar relationship issues I’m having, it’s easy to not hold anything back. Thank you for listening and for helping me help myself.
Shanua is a hero everyday she walks into class and teaches us it’s okay to mess up in life as long as you fix it. Shauna if youre reading this part- thank you for exemplifying confidence, grace, integrity, strength and most of all for giving me hope. I can do this.
