Biography
Songs of loss, hope and reflection; fears, truth and introspection...

"Each time I've seen Jesse Brewster on stage I've grown more and more baffled and frustrated. How can a talent this large not be nationwide? Jesse needs to be discovered in a big way. He's ready for primetime. His live shows and CDs are top-quality productions that leave you wanting more. The musicianship, the showmanship, the voice, the vibe, the supporting cast -- they're all there, aching for mass consumption. His messages are direct from the heart and his sound is addicting. Book him, sign him, spread the good word. Jesse's the man..."

-B. Ainsworth, Editor, Marin Independent Journal

Having spent much of his musical career on the sidelines, San Francisco native Jesse Brewster is ready to take his rightful spot at the front of the stage. As a solo artist, Brewster's acoustic-rock work fuses a Country/Americana style reminiscent of Willie Nelson with the pop-rock aesthetics of John Mayer. Lately, he's been fronting Mighty, an alt-rock group in the vein of Foo Fighters and Stone Temple Pilots.

Jesse Brewster's parents brewed his love for music at an early age. There was always something on the record player, be it Neil Young, The Rolling Stones or Bob Marley. Years later, he started his first band with his brother on drums and his childhood friend Uriah Duffy (Whitesnake, Lyrics Born) on bass. "I can't remember a time in my life when music wasn't important to me," he says.

Brewster spent his life on the sidelines as a guitarist and backup vocalist until a few years ago when he decided the time was right to break out on his own. "The singer-songwriter world is relatively new for me," he admits. "While I've always enjoyed singing, I was always focused on the guitar." Focused, that is, until he could no longer hold back the urge to create his own music.

His creative spark was lit by a major catalyst: charity. He created his debut album, Confessional, as a benefit record to raise funds and create awareness of Polycystic Kidney Disease. One track in particular, "One Reason," was written in memory of Brewster's brother Jim who passed away in 1998 from PKD. "I have worked extensively with the PKD Foundation" he says, "since the release of the album. I help organize events and tour in support of the foundation."

Following some success as a solo artist, Brewster soon assembled alt-rock group Mighty (formerly known as Jesse Brewster Band), to expand on his songwriting abilities. The group gives Brewster the opportunity to write songs in a different, more dynamic style and energy not possible as a solo artist, while also taking him back to his roots as a hard rock musician. "The two styles of music are very different," he explains. "But I love that I get to explore these two sides of my personality: the singer/songwriter and the balls-to-the-wall rocker."

Jesse Brewster recently wrapped up a solo tour following the release of his self-titled EP of acoustic tracks. Songs "All She Deserves" and "My Great Escape" have garnered wide-spread acclaim and turned Brewster into one of the Bay Area's artists-to-watch, thanks also in part to the numerous magazine and newspaper interviews as well as radio and festival appearances over the past year.

He also continues to work for the PKD Foundation having organized and performed at a large benefit event in San Francisco. The event sold out and raised thousands of dollars for the foundation. "The event marked the ten-year anniversary of my brother's death from PKD to the day," he explains. "It was important to me to honor his memory and raise funds and awareness about PKD."

Jesse Brewster plans to release his next full-length album in the fall of 2009.

Hey Jesse-

I WISH we could, we loved your music at the last jam- but alas, we're having THIS month's jam that evening due to a prior event being booked at BASS on our regular night.

We'd be there in a NY minute if we weren't going to be swamped- I know you'll do a great show, and we hope you come back and bring the entire band when you can. Open invite- I'll feature you again.

Best to you and I hope you pull in a bunch of money for this worthy cause.

Beth and Knut
Sunnbolt Music
