Jessee Havey was that kid who dreamt of superstardom, and at twenty-five she finds herself well on her way. Raised by folky social-activist musicians, she has been performing professionally for most of her life. At eighteen, days shy of her high school graduation, she was recruited by Winnipeg band entrepreneur Leonard Podolak, to take the role of lead vocalist for his new band, The Duhks. On March 1 st, 2007, she amicably left said band after five very productive years, to take a break from the road and step out on her own. Highlights of her life as a Duhk include a full-page photo spread in the 2006 Rolling Stone calendar, a Grammy nomination (for which she also made her debut as a fashion designer), three Juno nods and one win, making a music video in Los Angeles for her first original composition Out Of The Rain, and meeting and receiving praise from such artists as John Paul Jones (of Led Zeppelin), Odetta, Dr. John, Allison Krauss, Steve Earle, Marty Stuart, and David Crosby - who attended a Duhks show in California, after which he came backstage to say that he was a fan (he was apparently singing along to all the songs) and to say "don't let anyone try to put you in a box, musically - stick to your guns!". Another unforgettable career moment includes a backstage rendezvous with Dolly Parton, who, upon meeting Havey, gushed "Oh, I know who you are! I've heard all about you! My producer tells me you're one of the best singers he's ever heard! We better get our picture taken, so that we have a shot to use for when we do some singin' together!" Havey has also sung with such artists as Ruthie Foster, Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, Tim O'Brien, Paul Brady, Al Kooper, Peter Rowan, Jim Lauderdale, and most recently appeared on the latest Billy Ray Cyrus album, Home At Last. Having grown up on stage, there is nowhere she feels more at home, and is extremely gateful to have the privilege of sharing her passion for performing with you! "Havey is as good as anything Nashville has ever produced, and I state that willfully, with extensive knowledge of the eponymous talent that has emerged from the city. Havey embodies the masculine ferocity of Emmylou Harris, the subtle sensitivity of Alison Krauss, and the sheer stunning tone of Loretta Lynn in one." -jambase.com

    Hi,

I loved you in the Duhks. That was the main reason I started listening to music because I loved your voice. The emotion in Four Blue Walls is just amazing. Thanks for adding me back.
