Scratch.com calls him one of the best party DJ’s in the US. Elemental Magazine labeled him "Elite". For anyone who has ever heard him play, one thing is clear: He was meant to do this. But for Jesse Felluss, the road to DJing success has been anything but easy. Born and raised in Northwest Washington DC where he fell in love with all aspects of hip-hop life, Jesse was originally obsessed with the dancing side of music. When he was 14 and just about the time when hip-hop started slowing down in the early 90s, he and his family moved to Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Seeking the dance beat he wasn’t getting from hip-hop, he found himself at raves in and around Boston. He immedeatly became obsessed with the effect a DJ could have on such a large number of people. He saw it as modern day shamenism. A friend from high school showed up one day with the 1995 DMC world championship video and Jesse was hooked. Not knowing anything about the artform or how it was done, and the difference between battle DJing and what he heard at the raves, he studied the video non-stop and eventually taught himself how to scratch on his brothers stereo. One broken stereo and a few beatdowns later, Jesse decided he was gonna put every cent he could muster from dishwashing, birthdays, holidays and other forms of getting money at age 15 toward this. Eventually he had a set of 1200s and a Gemeni Scratchmaster mixer. Living in Portsmouth and without any real connection to the hip-hop community, Jesse dove head-first into practicing the artform he loved so much. After 16 years, 14 lame jobs, a few years in the battle scene and endless hours on the grind, he looked up and found himself as a full-time New York City Club DJ, instructor at the world famous Scratch DJ Academy, and a man who has been paid to travel around the world several times, spend summers in the Hamptons, and rock out with celebrities. Not bad for a whiteboy from the Chocolate City. But Jesse knows success is never final so he’s on to the next step of his evolution: Original Music. Currently spending most of his waking/non-DJing hours in the Manhattan studio he shares with his brother Andrew, Jesse has just completed his first studio album. Teaming up with the one and only Dante Blakeley, the boys tagged themselves "Nue Pourn" and banged out their seven song debut "Does Your Mama Know..." Slated for release on March 23rd, Jesse is hoping this will be the beginning of a beatiful new musical journey. Be on the lookout for more from this budding young talent on the musical landscape.
