   About Jesse Goplen

Jesse's songs and intense, personal performances evoke a broad range of human experience. Having written his first songs while spending time in jail for marijuana possession, many of his songs from the period expressed the dark emotions he felt dealing with his situation as a prisoner.

Although Jesse's songs have always been unique and well-crafted, the recordings that have been produced were not always faithful to the original songwriter's vision. "This time the stars have aligned," Jesse says of the soon-to-be released material.

"My newest songs really seem to affect people," Jesse says of his forthcoming album. "I think that's what I've always wanted to accomplish, to write a song that could really make you feel something."

Jesse is currently very busy recording his fourth full-length album, which should see nationwide distribution (a first).

Jesse is also still celebrating the birth of his second son Davis with the love of his life, photographer Kyana Taillon.

Jesse Goplen is a member of American Federation of Musicians Local 292 (AFL-CIO), Santa Rosa.

I should probably mention that my dad is Dave Goplen, a talented bassist in Madison, Wisconsin who currently performs with Clyde Stubblefield's band.

seems all is quiet on the western coast... as is the same here in the mid-west, which should really just be mid-america or mid-states... because it seems the western coast is further away than the eastern coast so to tie it to a particuliar side than it seems more logical to be the mid-east even.... although nowadays a term like mid-east would be considered by most, as at least un-patriotic and at the worst high treason and a chance to learn about "water boarding" in Guantanamo Bay.... sorry for the rambal ttyl

I haven't had a chance to tell you that Peter Dale Scott signed my book and made a signing statement. Several others VIPs also have agreed to come on board. I hope all is well in your world. I've been a bit under the weather.

It's almost rent-time for the North Coast Earth First! Media office, so if you're willing and able to help out, now's a good time to do so. We've had a few new subscribers to the automatic monthly donation plan, and a huge "thank you!" to everyone who has shown support, recently and throughout the years.
Please tell your friends and relations about the automatic monthly donation plan, or the "$10-a-month Plan," as it was originally called. Things have evolved, however, and now there are $5, $10, $20, and $50 options, for various levels of support. I figure that most people can afford $5 or $10 per month, and it creates an opportunity for people to get directly involved with helping the North Coast Earth First! movement, especially for the folks who have jobs, families, school, etc. and can't drop everything to come sit in a tree, run supplies, or otherwise dedicate their lives to front-line direct action.
We still need a few more people to really make it work, so please sign up, if at all possible, and/or spread the word, so that we can build up the critical mass to really make this plan work, so that we can focus more on proactive projects and less on fundraising.
The instructions for telling others about it is easy, too; just go to our website, www.northcoastearthfirst.org, and then go to the "Donations" page. You'll find a full explanation of the idea, and then several PayPal buttons; there's a button for making a one-time donation, buttons for subscribing to $5, $10, $20, and $50 automatic monthly donations, and then an "unsubscribe" button, so that people can cancel their subscription at any time. The original subscription is for 12 months, yet people can unsubscribe at any time, no hard feelings, no obligations, no commitments.
It's easy to participate in, and easy to tell others about, so let's find the 100 people that we need to really make this plan work, and then fundrai
