  • Bio

A quick bio; I have been writing songs since I was about twelve, often singing at family parties, school shows etc.It was my dad a few years later who taught me to play the guitar so I could accompany my own songs (Genius!!). From then on I was hooked. I’ve been fortunate to play some cracking gigs already with international stars such as KT Tunstall and Kathryn Williams as well as rising stars such as Elaine Palmer, Amy Wadge and Waking The Witch. I have also supported Tony joe White at the irish centre in leeds, who has written songs for the likes of Elvis,Ray Charles,Tina Turner and many more, it was a pure pleasure to share the stage with him.The past few years have given me experience doing live radio performances and Tv work (ITV programme ’My yorkshire’ with Ian Clayton). I recently performed again on ITV1 as a feature on calender news. Some YouTube videos are avaliable to view now! .. .. Since the launch of my debut album ’Beyond belief’ (May 12th 07) I have been incredibly busy touring up and down the country in venues and at various festivals. It’s been an amazing few months so far and the response i’m getting is extreamly positive. .. .. I was also picked as one of 60 people to take part in the BBC radio 2 songwriting academy, and selected as one of a handful to people to perform to an industry audience in London in May. 4 masterclasses were being held across the UK (Bristol, London, Manchester and Glasgow). Info on that can be found on the BBC radio2 website. .. .. My album ’Beyond Belief’ has also been reveiwed in issue 20 of ACOUSTIC MAGAZINE (Jan 08) and it was great. To see the whole reveiw visit my website. .. .. UK gigs and festivals are being added all the time so keep an eye out on here and on my website www.jessgardham.co.uk. .. .. I’m also keen on writing songs for film which I will be spending some of my time doing.I’v last year experienced my first role in a british film,in which I play a 1950’s jazz singer(keep your eyes out for the afro)I sing two songs in the film one being the main song featured in the film. The experience of being on set for incredible lengths of time was both exhausting and satisfying and has left me wanting more in both off screen and on screen work.Hopefully something good will come out of that. The film is called ’Private life’ and premiered this at the end of last year at Leeds internationl film festival winning the best short film award and has since gone on to win best short film award at one of the biggest film festivals in the world ’Planet Out’ in the USA!!, more details on that and other exciting projects I am involved in can be found on my official website www.jessgardham.co.uk (the film is now available to view online). So the future looks set to be full of adventures. .. .. I have various gigs in the USA and Canada and some exciting songwriting opportunities and industry meetings lined up. ..
