Moviesi am not a movie buff but i am getting better. netflix rules. i tend to find ones i like and just watch those ones over and over again. i love the movies of my youth. labrynth, princess bride, muppets take manhatten, neverending story. i also love documentaries and old punk rock movies. decline of western civilization, another state of mind, all that good stuff. and super troopers or anything that makes me laugh hysterically.
Televisiontoo much of it. somewhere along the way i got completely addicted to it. cable tv has sucked me in. television on dvd is a weakness as well. peep show, garth merenghi's dark place, brit-coms, mission hill, the office, arrested development, freaks and geeks, the young ones, project runway/top chef, rock of love, ghost hunters, any specials about ghosts/hauntings/bizarro places, you get the idea.
Booksplease kill me by legs mcneil, wisconsin death trip, all the ramona books, juxtapoz, bust, maximum rock and roll, batgirl comics (real batgirl, not that ghost batgirl crap), batman graphic novels, dorothy parker, books about criminals and serial killers and the paranormal and of course art books.

About me:
View and purchase my artwork at newkindofkick.etsy.com

i have been creating art since i was a small child (but who didn't make art when they were a kid, really?). i like to think i've improved a little bit since then though. i do a lot of mixed media pieces. most of my inspiration comes from the old advertisements of the 30's, 40's and 50's. i enjoy taking those ads and adding a bit of satire to them. i reproduce these old advertisements by hand drawing them in a larger size, no projectors or computers are involved. i work mainly with acrylics but i enjoy working with water colors and i also like to paint murals and furniture. basically, i love to paint in any form. and anyone who knows me, knows my number 1 favorite thing is to glue things to other things. i especially love to glue miniatures. i also love tattoos and the art of tattooing. i try to incorporate that into my work as well. i have just recently started exploring other creative outlets and am looking forward to sharing them with the world. enjoy!

Former member of The St Louis Craft Mafia, a great organization that I still support.

T. Renner, "The Birth of the Cool: Move," 2008, acrylic on canvas, 24" x 18".

"St. Louis Hard-Edged Abstraction: 12 Paintings (The Birth of the Cool)" will open on Friday, October 17, at Left Bank Books, 399 North Euclid, St. Louis, Missouri, 63108. Please join me for an opening reception from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

In this show, my work is very influenced by the hard-edged abstract painters of mid-century such as Helen Lundberg, Lorser Feitelson, John McLaughlin, and Barnett Newman. Each of the pieces in the show has been named after a track on Miles Davis' album "Birth of the Cool." The pieces are composed of red, black, or white vertical stripes of various widths arranged as a series of pairs. "St. Louis Hard-Edged Abstraction: 12 Paintings (The Birth of the Cool)" explores both repetition and self-imposed limitations.

Haha! It's cool!
Finding an apartment in the city with a dishwasher is nearly impossible.
How sad and lazy am I that the fact that this apartment had one pretty much sealed the deal for me?! :)
