Jessica King & a Taylor 512 NG & sometimes a mandolin & if you're super lucky maybe a piano or electric guitar
Influences
I've pretty much listened to everything at one time or another. Growing up I heard a lot of Allman Brothers, BB King, Fats Domino, and Mary Chapin Carpenter. The first chord book I ever got was Bon Jovi's "New Jersey". That rocked. I was 12 playing and singing "Bad Medicine." (No joke - ask my mom)
My music now has been influenced by a lot of people... Ani Difranco, Sheryl Crow, Indigo Girls, Mike Doughty, Sarah McLachlan, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Shawn Colvin, Kim Richey, ...
Sounds Like
Some review of me said "Joni Mitchell meets Melissa Etheridge." I can live with that.
from Jessica's bio
Jessica was born in Fort Gaines, Georgia. She borrowed a neighbor's guitar at the age of twelve, and by the end of the day, she could play Mary Chapin Carpenter's "Come On Come On" CD in its entirety.
At 15, Jessica started performing around Atlanta and four years later was awarded runner-up in the Lilith Fair Talent Search. Shortly after, Jessica moved to Roanoke, Virginia to go to college. She graduated from Hollins University in 2004, where she discovered the other love of her life, computers. She now has a rockin' day job as a Java programmer and web developer in Augusta, GA.
Hello Laurie and Jessica! I heard that you're going to be an aunt - you know my mom gets the gossip when she goes to the dentist and sees your dad. Thanks for the birthday wishes. I missed your birthday, so happy belated birthday!!
Hey you! How are things going? I'm really supporting (below) comment - you need to make it a bit further north for a show. Hope you and Laurie are doing well!
Hey you!!! When are ya'll comin' back in town to see the folks? I would love to see ya'll again!! Also, why don't you have more songs up for peeps to hear? I miss you both a lot!!! =)
if only i could be in Augusta on July 4th, i would be there but alas, i have company. i hope you are doing well and perhaps some more gigs will show up and sean and i will be there. take care!
I had a dream you two got married and i was not invited, and that both of you were falling over in shock that you had forgotten to invite me. So make sure that doesn't ever happen. I MISS YOU neighbor. My hottest neighbor award hangs right over my stove and makes my mother uncomfortable everytime she comes over.
Isn't it about time you stopped by my house with your guitar to have a concert in the echo-friendly living room? Or better yet, would you like me to book a gig for you somewhere around town? We want to hear your music and we miss you!
