21 year-old Jessica began her musical 'career' at the age of 10, gaining a scholarship as a chorister, singing in Lincoln's beautiful Cathedral. It was here that she realised that music was going to be her career path. Leaving at 14 to join Cantamus Girls Choir, she sang with them up until the end of her gap year in 2006.
She has been taught by Pamela Cook MBE (of Cantamus fame) and from her, she still receives the very best vocal tuition in the country. At the moment she is exploring her voice as a Mezzo-Soprano, despite training as a Soprano for a number of years. With Cantamus Jess has taken part in many esteemed competitions, recordings, and television appearances - Notably as a soloist with Lucy Hall on the BBC's Classic Response 2006 and the Big Sing 2006 for Songs of Praise. Other appearances have included popular television show, Richard and Judy and numerous features on Classic FM TV.
Cantamus have toured Belgium, Italy, France, Germany and China as well as many more countries. Their recent success in China at the Choral Olympics saw them coming away with two Gold Medals and the title of World Champions.
Jess is currently studying at the University of York - One of the top Universities in the country for a degree in Music. The department is very active and she is valued singer there, enjoying life in York greatly.
Jess has formed an all female group with fellow members Sarah Clarke and Phillipa Thomas, calling themselves TrioAnon. They are currently based in the Midlands. All three girls met through Cantamus, studied/or are studying at York, and having sung together for many years, took their love of singing to the next level by forming TrioAnon.
Jess sings with The University of York Chamber Choir, University Choir, and the well-known Yorkshire Bach Choir. She is also the Press and Publicity Officer for the University of York Music Society with whom she really enjoys working with.
Recent engagements have included playing Rowan in Benjamin Britten's opera The Little Sweep, Augusta in Grace William's The Parlour and Britten's Saint Nicholas. Future roles in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas as Dido, and Countess Almaviva in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro are currently in the lineup for 2009. She also appeared as the soprano soloist in Faure's Requiem and Jess peforms various solo engagements around York and Lincoln.
