Influences
I am influenced to sing like myself by all the artists and bands that put on a fake accent ( I have nothing against an American accent - if you are American that is..)
I am influenced to write without cliches by all the songwriters whose lyrics you can predict a whole line ahead.
I am influenced to write with interesting melodies because i am tired of the repetetive, the ordinary, the predictable, the unimaginative.
I am influenced to write with beauty that makes people feel something good because I want to make people feeel better about their lives in some small way.
Local Aussies have influenced me by their originality: Steve Romig -my Dad. Josh Romig - my brother, fast becoming a great singer and songwriter.
Nick Roy is a Melbourne singer songwriter who blows me away. Georgia Fields is a true original, Luke Howard whose magical piano playing affects my heart.
Spanish sensations SANTOS, George Kamikawa (Japanese Blues Cowboy) Stevie Wonder - I adore everything he does and has done over the years. Jonny Lang - one of my favourite passionate musicians - rock blues ( US) Elton John - his DVD is one of my favourites - "Yellow Brick Road ' album is one of my 10 desert island discs. I look forward to being stranded ( hope I have a DVD player with me..).
Billy Joel - love his piano playing, lyrics, melodies.. Brilliant! Ray Lamontagne - love his quavering husky voice and songs. Ray Charles - loved the movie and love his style, voice and delivery. Bill Withers - "Grandma's Hands" always makes me cry - so beautiful!!

On January 24th my gear was stolen from a parked car in Doncaster, Melbourne. On my website I have pictures of it - my Seagull acoustic Guitar with pick-up, a digital Korg chrome Tuner, my Fender Passport PA system - 3 piece (grey), a new Sennheiser Evolution 600/800 series mic, another mic, leads and mic stands. Please keep an eye out for it!
Ricky Bond took this shot for my forthcoming album. We went to the market and got this fish and put it in the tanks with the plants and stones etc... various fibre optic wands and camera grip things and expertise and imagination were used and 24 hours later Ricky had the shot. A tiny life in a fragile vessel.
