Bio
With a sweet southern smile and a story that resembles a sad country song, Jessica Roadcap captivates her audiences with intricate melodies and a unique voice full of color and air. Straight from the heart of Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, the twenty-four year old singer-songwriter has recently planted her roots in Nashville, Tennessee where she is emerging as an artist and songwriter in the Country/Americana music scene. Jessica made the move to Nashville in the fall of 2005 to attend Belmont University. By December 2008, she had earned her bachelor's degree in music business and gained valuable experience in the music industry. Since graduation, she has been busy working toward what she hopes will lead to the fulfillment of her career dream. Jessica feels like she is closer now than she's ever been to where she wants to be. Jessica Roadcap grew up on a farm in small-town Virginia singing to farm animals, climbing hay bails and wandering through the stockyards humming melodies and making up songs. She took every opportunity she could to play for various festivals and events in and around her hometown. With her unique voice, she struggled to find the perfect cover songs to sing, so at the age of eleven, she began writing her own. Her parents' divorce gave her plenty to write about. Her debut album, appropriately entitled "Dance in a Hurricane," is filled with songs that express ideas that arose in her own life and in the lives of all those around her during troubled times. Each of the eleven songs, written solely by Jessica or co-written with others, is performed passionately with a style that is all her own. "No one can seem to put a finger on who I sound like," Jessica says. "I'm often a product of a blender. Until I moved to Nashville, I didn't appreciate the fact that I was different. I am different. And I'm just beginning to explore that blessing." -
