Jessie Hughes ventured into the Baltimore music scene in the Fall of 2003. Despite being without a website or a demo for over a year, she managed to play extensively in her hometown and tour the East Coast. As a solo-electric perfomer, she shared bills with acts that ranged from singer/songwriters to heavy rock and punk bands.
After attracting the attention of producer Eric Penna from the Boston-based Lifted and Gifted Productions, Hughes recorded a full-band EP, featuring Penna and drummer Will Pratt, both of the experimental rock/punk band Ketman, as her rhythm section. With the release of the EP, entitled “the seventy-one demos”, in February 2005, Hughes busied herself with tours in the US and Canada. Following more than a year of constant traveling, she embarked on a self-proclaimed "full-on hibernation", dividing her time between her two home-bases in Baltimore and Chicago. In Spring of 2007, Hughes was joined by drummer/collaborator Matt Foster to set up shop on top of a mountain to write and record. Now, there will be shows, shows, a new record, and more shows...
Hello lovely Marylanders! It's been ages since I've seen most of you. I miss Charm City...Just thought I'd drop a quick line and let you know I'll be playing at the 13th floor (one chase street, in the belvedere hotel) Thursday, Sept. 4 from 10-1am, with my wonderful Boston band, The Bon Ton Parade. It would be great if you could make it.
