Jessie Kennedy is a well-known and much-respected singer songwriter. Trained as a young musician in classical violin and given her first guitar by songwriter Jimmy McCarthy, she is now an established performer. She has performed on stage with many leading musicians including Donovan, Interference (as heard in Oscar-winning film One), Maurice Seezer (In the Name of the Father, Moulin Rouge), Dog Tail Soup, Black (It’s a Wonderful Life), Maria Doyle Kennedy, Kieran Kennedy and Dave Clarke (Hot House Flowers) and well-known Cork guitarist Sara Corkery. Jessie has gigged extensively in Ireland, and Her CD was previewed in Switzerland with a tour. Her song Too True was featured on Magic Nights at the Lobby Bar, a compilation CD of well-known Irish Acts produced as part of Cork 2005 City of Culture. She has recently been the West Cork music correspondent for the Guardian newspaper. The songs on the album are written by Jessie, a couple of exceptions being Bruce Springsteen's 'Devils and Dust' and Paul Tiernan's 'I'll Johnny Cash'. Jessie Kennedy's vocal style has been compared to Maria McKee and the Webb Sisters, whilst her influences include Prince, Depeche Mode, Joni Mitchell and Tom Waits as well as “the many artists I have performed with.” The CD is launched in July 2010 with a series of gigs all of which will be announced on Jessie’s My Space page. She is then heading to California to do a two week tour, followed by a return trip to Switzerland. Some tracks from the album have recently been heard on Philip King's RTE radio show 'The South Wind Blows', and also on John Creedon's RTE radio show.
