Cheap wine... Nice guitars... ummm... ANY guitar... The guy in front of me who's talking on his cell phone... the dog that just pissed on the floor even though I've taken her out eighteen times today... Friends who have funny stories about what they did the last time they were drunk... New artists that I really like... diet coke... and coke zero... both are equally influencing, especially with a shot of Sailor Jerry! HALLAR!! Taco Bell sauce (did you know you can buy that at the store and then, everything you eat is like you just ordered it from TACO BELL!!!! I mean, hello?!!!)... Rachael Ray is an influence, but If I ate everything she makes, I'd be 700 pounds... Mich Ultra, yeah that's an influence much like MILLER LITE... The scale (ugh)... new people... old people... my family... my pocketbook... a terrible hangover... the mirror... the treadmill... pictures of hot bodies that I wanna look like, but know I never will... yeah... all of these things are influences... but, those are just the basics... for details, you'll have to buy me a beer.
Sounds Like
I sound like a cross between Jennifer Nettles, Sheryl Crow, Jewel, Terri Clark, Steve Earle and even a little bit of Cher thrown in on occasion (oh, I said it... I love me some Cher!).
It's country, it's rock, it's folk and it's different every time I play it because, sometimes (I'll be honest) I forget the words and the chords and often times... I just re-write the song on stage and hope nobody notices. The only problem with that is, more and more people know the songs and all the words... so... now when I screw up, I just close my eyes to avoid the look of "hey, you fucked up your song" on the faces of those who are singin' along. lol.
Who is "Jessi Lynn"... hmmm... I ask myself this at least a dozen times a day... here is my best guess at who I am...
I play guitar. I write songs. I don't have a "real" job. So, I guess that makes me a bum. A real life, bum. Sweet, no wonder my parents are so proud... sigh...

Forgiving does not erase the bitter past. A healed memory is not a deleted memory. Instead, forgiving what we cannot forget creates a new way to remember. We change the memory of our past into a hope for our future.
