I do a lot of collaborations these days and live gigs with all sorts of people.
My amazing brother Mario Vaira is usually part of the process wheather he's playing guitar, layin down a freestyle or helping with recording.
The bedroom studio tracks featured here were recorded with three different producers depending on which one: Mario Vaira, Clarence Chu, Alex Escott.
All Odds and Ends tracks were recorded with Mario Vaira.
I've also done some demos with Alex Maher.
There's a new project on the go with Clarence Chu which we have tentatively named true-fold. This is to be a full length album of ass-shakin' electronic tracks which I'm pretty excited about. Playing live usually involves Ryan Stewart on drums, my bro on guitar, Jay Davies on Bass, and if I'm lucky, MC Dosia rhymin or Alex Maher playin some sax.
Influences
The everyday events and happenings of life and the natural world around me. As well as Ani Difranco, Beady Belle, Erykah Badu, Esthero, Jill Scott, Bjork, Sarah Vaughn, Lauryn Hill, Zero 7, Jimmy Cliff, Stereolab, DJ Krush, Nightmares On Wax, Toots and the Maytals, Sublime, Tribe Called Quest, Roots Manuva, Calexico, Gentlemen, Iron and wine, Kings of Convenience, Death Cab for Cutie, The Police, Elliot Smith and so many others it would take forever to type.
Jessica Vaira is a singing, songwriting, clothing designer who loves to create. With a background in jazz and a wide range of influences Jessie's songs are hard to fit into one genre.
If forced for a definition, I would say that my style falls somewhere between singer-songwriter folk and jazz, with a little reggae, and R&B.
Jess also loves to collaborate and has worked with many different musicians and producers on all sorts of projects. Jess hates writing in third person so she's switcing back and forth.
I am the happiest when I am multi-tasking.... too many years as a server combined with a short attention span.
Whether it be vocals on a children's song, hooks for hip-hop tracks or atmospheric sounds for techno music, I am always interested in situations that push me outside my usual process.
My music and designs can be seen at:

To me, this site is about making genuine connections with people so if you want me to add you to my list of goodness, make sure you try and make a connection with me in some way other than just pushing the 'add me' button.
Thanks!
