In 1991, Rick Carney recruited co-workers Ron Williams and Brian McGoo and EMG bandmate Russ Curry to form Jesus Christ Superfly. Their goal: To play punk covers from various eras and drink as much free beer as possible. After the demise of EMG, Carney and Williams began writing their own songs and soon released the Big Shit/Rocket Scientist 7" on Frank Kozik's Rise Records. Before hitting the road, McGoo and Curry quit. Curry was replaced by drummer Cade Callahan and rather than adding another guitar, the band continued as a trio. In 1993, a self-titiled lp was released, follwed by another, "Texas Toast" in 1996. After a long succession of drummers and various other acts of god, Paul Soliz joined and "I don't Wanna Be Crazy" was recorded with uber producer Spot. Almost exactly a year later, Chicken Ranch Records released record. Oh yeah, we're looking for a touring drummer. Again.
