Maybe there is no such thing as an autobiographic song in electronic dance music but Valentino Kanzyani's 33 certainly comes as close as it gets. Marking the artist’s 33rd birthday in 2008 – the ‘Christ’s years’ as one would say in his home country of Slovenia – the record was intended as a symbolic milestone in his highly successive career. As an artist who loves being surrounded by a crowd in professional as well as in personal life Kanzyani soon began organizing huge birthday parties where he performed together with his friends. The sets were readily released on promo records, which received a lot of attention. Finally, Kanzyani & Tomy DeClerque took it a step further by canalising the motivating atmosphere of their summer performance into a full-fledged studio release. True to their unique grip, which manages to break up the monotony of classic techno without thereby softening its sharp edge, they expand their trade marked Mediterranean style of highly danceable but yet tender electronic dance music. As a fine example of Kanzyani’s & Tomy..s recent work, 33 builds up the atmosphere slowly and gradually, carefully adding up drama to maintain the listeners attention until it reaches its high peak in a series of beautiful dominos-falling sound effects. When a certain level of mastery is reached in electronic dance music there can be no right or wrong manner of producing it: the thing is, rather, to find one’s own way. And they have found it quite some time ago and it keeps on taking them higher and higher!

Although he’s commonly accepted as Marko Nastic’s sidekick, it’s Dejan’s name that raises more eyebrows when it comes to the results of studio sessions. His music style is a blend of techno, house, minimal and electro. He’s a wizard of three-decks mixing and no stranger to deejaying back to back with string orchestra either. Both tracks on this release echo the eclectic nature of this excellent music producer, who grew up on primal techno but it’s not afraid to shift the gear and explore house territories of here and now. This EP is a perfect example of old school sampling and looping craft that uses wide variety of wooden and metal percussions, horns and voice samples to create groovy, funky atmosphere that drives the dance floor into collective hypnosis. Flashbacks of Kanzyani’s early works are part of this package deal, but the name of the game is keeping it fresh.

This EP is a nice presentation of newly adapted Jesus Loved You sound vision, bound to explore the roots of dance music. And a great example of what we'll be getting hooked on this summer. The title track is typical Aneuria's warm tension builder, full of tribal, organic, acoustics sounds which create intense hypnotic pattern which lays mainly on the fat bass, steal drums and a pinch of wooden percussion and horns. Art Social is an experiment that presents yet another of Aneuria’s qualities: it's all about building a strong atmosphere that grows deeply underground ‘till it bursts into the rainbow of sounds. Finally, there’s Lexy, a link between old and new Jesus Loved You sound with techy, groovy, loopy drive and rumbling middles with all that compressed energy that work dance floor as a steam roller. And this is only the beginning of our new journey.
