Band MembersNick Church - Vocals/Acoustic, Vaughn Atkinson - Guitars/Programming, Andy Thompson - Bass, Mark Griffin - Drums
InfluencesFar-reaching, but includes Beck, Primal Scream, Ian Brown, Stone Roses, Pixies, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Chemical Brothers, Bjork, Weather Report, Senser, Beastie Boys, Happy Mondays, Bootsy Collins, Stanley Clarke, Senseless Things, Money Mark, Charlatans, Kasabian, Wonderstuff, Jesus Jones... and more. We love: chunky basslines, tight rhythms, interesting vocals, off-kilter guitars and of course analogue-style synth sounds. Oh, and a decent cup of tea...

Sounds LikeQUOTES, PRESS & REVIEWS:

"Go forth and discover just what indie rock is all about at this point in time – it’s a snapshot of what most bands should be aspiring to. " - Whisperin' and Hollerin', Review of Theories to Suit Facts

"'Freefall’ is a slice of aural MDMA with sounds that bring to mind Jean Michel Jarre dosed up on Relentless. ‘Pretty Please’ whacks a heavy dose of fuzz on the guitar and coupled with a cascading bassline the result is something like a more English Pixies." - Dave Urwin - Live Music Scene, Review of Theories to Suit Facts

"While the songs are varied and interesting, they still manage to keep the good ship JetKing on an even keel throughout. It definitely sounds like an “album” rather than a collection of disparate songs – everything fits and justifies its place and position. Its like it arrived fully formed into the world and that is important for any album. It can be the difference between a good album and a bad one – and JetKing score highly here." - Indie Music Universe, Review of Theories to Suit Facts

"Its the mood and feel that envelops you and they feel like long lost pals that you are glad to be in the presence of" - Bristol Rocks, Review of Album Launch Party

"I'm really pleased your track is coming on the show. Well done!" - Helen Chamberlain, Soccer AM

"Its SO catchy... a real storming track" - Gary Smith, BBC Radio Bristol Introducing

"I heard - I like" - Paul Ryder, Big Arm / Happy Mondays

"Jetking have enough quirks and dips to stand out from the anorak indie crowd, which probably means they will go far. They certainly have made a good start." Dave Chislet (Independent Review)

"Absolutely AMAZING" - Dean James, Fresh Unsigned

"A knockout set" - GWR FM (Following the band's performance at the Thekla)

"Bristol has a new Messiah... ...The plaudits they have received from notable sources are right - they really are a band to watch (preferably live)" - Mark Crispin, remotegoat.co.uk

"You guys were very good, a great big giant sound" - Alli Hodge, Feedme Music Promoters (Best Promoter, Indy Awards 2008)

"Tech-d up indie, mixing drum machines with real drums and the odd bit of synth (some of it VERY odd), clattery bass playing and chiming and uber-dirty guitar in equal measure... ...they are something of an oddity in that their sound is really fresh and yet accessable at the same time" - Alex Feines, Safe Concerts

"A very unusual electric guitar part is wonderfully uncomfortable, in a compelling, purposeful way. Intelligent song smithery with the polish of great musicianship" - BANDMAN

"like the Chemical Brothers meets baggy Madchester in a dark alley drinking lighter fluid" - Last.FM

"A small band set to be much bigger... refreshingly different... WATCH OUT, KLAXONS, JETKING ARE COMING TO GET YOU!" - EP Review on Whisperin & Hollerin

"They would trounce other bands that, on the face of it, are sharing similar ground in the "guitars and electronics" side of the music scene; most notably Bloc Party and the Klaxons should be looking over their shoulders around now..." - The National Gig Guide

JetKing are a Bristol-based band who play a blend of guitar-based indie mixed with electronica. It a big melting pot of very diverse influences, which is why the band don't sound like a carbon copy of anyone else. Grooving bass, quirky guitar, analogue electronica, BIG drums and strong vocals complete the sound.

Originally a studio project only, the band launched itself into the live circuit in summer 2007 to almost instant acclaim nationally, playing such venues as Liverpool Barfly, Clapham Grand, Bristol Academy, The Thekla, Exeter Phoenix Arts Centre, Dublin Castle in Camden, Bristol Harbour Festival, and the Moonfest Festival Hospitality Party to name but a few.

They have gained a lot of momentum and media coverage in the last year and are tipped for bigger things.

Music doesnt have to all sound the same...

Our track "In the Land of Monkeys" was played on Soccer AM on Sky Sports One on Saturday 20th September during the goals roundup! Watch it here...
