Jett Black is a high octane, hard drivin' rock n' roll band. It was originally formed in 2003 by Jeff"Jett"Black, Tony Young, Jay Downing, and a revolving cast of lead guitarists which included Yogi, formerly of the L.A. band Buckcherry.They started wowing crowds in Denver with their high energy shows. Their debut release, "What This Record Needs... Is More Cowbell," was well received by audiences and critics alike. After toiling around Denver during 2004, and opening for a handful of national acts, including Reverend Horton Heat, Supersuckers, Throw Rag, Dick Dale, Wayne"The Train"Hancock, Split Lip Rayfield, Bastard Sons Of Johnny Cash, and more, Black decided that it was time to get this thing on the road. Unfortunately, not everyone was able to travel on a regular basis, so some changes were made.
In March of 2005, Bart McCrorey, who was producing and engineering the band's second release, "To Hell And Back," decided to join the band full time as lead guitarist, and brought along Igor, the flying wonder, on bass. The sound got a little edgier, and the new "Jett Black" was in motion. The band did some touring with Throw Rag, and then released their new album in the Fall of 2005. Again, it was well received, and the boys hit the road. HARD. The constant tour schedule saw them sharing the stage with old friends like the Rev., and Supersuckers, as well as new ones such as Jackass, Link Wray, Jesse Dayton, Honky, Exene Cervenka and the Original Sinners, Hell's Belles, Thunderfist, Looker, Frontside Five, Neutralboy, and more.
Between tens of thousands of miles in the trusty old Ford van, the boys continued writing, and in 2006, began recording the follow up to the Hell and Back album. It would be called Dead Town, thanks to a bizarre night in Tulsa. Dead Town was released in November of 2006.
The band took a break in early 2007 in order to make some lineup changes. Jay Downing, the band's original bass player, and guitarist Eddie Greene have taken over for Bart and Igor. The new lineup rehearsed constantly during the first few months of 2007, and finally made their debut in May opening for Dick Dale. With the new band ready to go, there are finally plans to do some touring in support of the Dead Town album, as well as start writing material for the next one. So... yet another chapter in the story of Jett Black comes to an end, and a new one begins.
This is the best that Jett Black has ever sounded, according to Jeff, T-Bag, and the fans who came out to see the band make their debut. So, whatever you do, keep an eye out for the new Jett Black, 'cos they're bringin' the rock -HARD!!
