"Few bands have ‘chart success’ written all over them like Jetty Road."
Canterbury News, UK
“Jetty Road is a band to watch - literally. If their WE Fest
performance was an indication of what's coming, move over Keith Urban -
there's another Aussie act headed for the top.”
~ Chyrll Sparks, WE Fest.
"In a matter of two shorts days, Jetty Road won the hearts and respect
of some of the most critical country music fans in this country."
~Big Valley Jamboree, Camrose Alberta.
“Jetty Road are not trying to be just another band, imitating something
that’s been done before. This is where their true individualism shines
through in many wondrous colours.”
Laura Bethell, Maverick Magazine, UK.
“Quite breathtaking in all honesty.”
Chris Jackson, International Americana Festival, UK
Jetty Road have forged their own path and decided to go for it in a big way. 2009 saw the release of their new album, Life at a Million Miles - a new chapter in their remarkable journey.
This album has a distinct flavour about it – confident with no apologies.
“I stopped retreating to the back line, and I went out and I started playing the front nine” mixed with “I’ve always played my cards just how I wanted” and “This time I’m digging my feet down in the sand” are lyrics that capture the high and lows of their sometimes ‘crazy’ life, along the amazing road they’ve travelled to get them to where they are today.
Twin sisters Lee and Paula, along with Julian and Simon make up Jetty Road. Their music has been described as ‘a tapestry of rock, pop and country, with a hint of folk.’ Imagine The Corrs, Fleetwood Mac and The Dixie Chicks with a unique Australian edge. The four friends met whilst studying at Music College; however it wasn’t until a few years later that they began writing and recording their own music and Jetty Road was born.
April 2009 saw the release of their brand new album, Life At A Million Miles through Compass Bros Distribution. This is the third album released by the Victorian 4 piece. Their previous albums, Full Circle released in 2005 and Dirt Roads City Lights released in 2007 saw the band garner the attention of the country music industry, both locally and internationally.
After releasing their debut single Run To You in 2005, the band have had seven tracks in the Top 20 on Australian radio. Heart And Soul, Real Smooth Cowboy, I Wanna Go Home, City Lights and most recently Good Times, which sat in the 2 position for four weeks, and the smash hit Million Miles; it rocketed to 1 position and remained there for six consecutive weeks . Five of the video clips for these tracks made it to the Top 10 on CMC with City Lights (2008) and Million Miles (2009) reaching the coveted 1 position on the CMC (Country Music Channel) chart.
Along with strong chart success, Jetty Road have twice taken home the TIARA Award for Best Group (2008 / 2009) and the Victorian Album of the Year at the 2008 Victorian and National Country Music Awards. In January 2008 they were honoured with a finalist nomination at the 36th Country Music Awards of Australia for Best Group. Most recently Jetty Road dominated at the 2009 Australian Independent Country Music Awards by winning Australian Independent Group/Duo of the Year, Australian Independent Album of the Year and Australian Independent Artist of the Year.
Since 2008, Jetty Road has been creating a buzz for itself in North America – playing main stage at the biggest country festivals on the continent. June 2008 saw Jetty Road performing on main stage at Dauphin Countryfest in Canada. To date, Keith Urban and Jetty Road are the only Australian acts to ever perform at the festival. Dauphin Countryfest is Canada’s longest running music festival, and other performers in 2008 included country music super-star Alan Jackson, Lonestar and 2008 Grammy Award winners Emerson Drive.
In 2009, Jetty Road shared stages with Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, Brooks & Dunn and Tim McGraw at WE Fest in the USA, Merritt Mountain Music Festival and Big Valley Jamboree in Canada. Further more, the band has performed in Nashville at the prestigious Aristo Media Global Artist Showcase during the annual CMA Music Festival and were the first country music artists to perform at the Hard Rock Café in Paris whilst on tour throughout France and the United Kingdom.
As Jetty Road continue their whirl wind world tour to France, Switzerland and Germany in September 2009, it seems the saying ‘life imitates art’ could not be more accurate; a life at a million miles…....
