About me:
I first began stringing beads together as a 10 year old hobbyist, completely unaware that fate would grant me the joy of making it into a rewarding career. After years of experimenting with various styles and techniques I discovered the endless possibilities of combining wire and beads. While developing my craft I worked various management positions in retail and in the communications industry. Before long my jewellery started circulating among my network of friends (and my friend’s networks of friends!) and the rest, as they say, is history. In 2001 I pounced at the opportunity to make a career out of my all consuming passion.
The main element of my work is nickel-free stainless steel wire, the most versatile of wires; many people have allergies to nickel and other metals. I sometimes also use brass and copper wire. Beads are to me are like candy is to a child and I use glass, wood and semi precious stones in my work. I never use any adhesives or glues, just wire, which allows each piece to look organic, and be special and unique. I’ve always had a passion for individuality and so all pieces are one of a kind!
Being a proud Maritimer born and raised in the Halifax area I was honored to be made a juried member of the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council, a position I’ve held since September 2001. I’m blessed with a wonderful life and career that continues to challenge and inspire me, allowing my work to endlessly evolve. I love expressing myself through jewellery and sharing this joy with the world.
