PRODUCTION NOTES of PLEURE EN SILENCE:
Everything started by the reading of an article that had the title "Young Parricide Not Guilty". From this article the meeting between Director J.G.BIGGS and IDA BEAUSSART, the main character in this tragedy, is born.
Like an impulse, "Cry in silence" suddenly was created. J.G Biggs talks about Ida's story to Producer ALEXANDRE BOUTROS, who right away gives green light to the project.
Very quickly this "delicate subject" allows to engage known professionals in french feature film business :
1-Cyril Morin, composer.
2-Fabienne Bichet, casting director.
Pre-production and production are met in record times :
-21 days of writing for the final screenplay (100 pages)
-15 days of pre-production (scout locations, casting, rehersals)
-10 shooting days.
The film is done in HD, in colour, to arrive to a final version in black and white with only parts in colour. The film's first version lasted 2 hours 20 minutes : almost one hour of film was cut for artistic reasons, obtaining the final version of 1 hour 27.
J.G BIGGS really cared to make the film as close to reality as possible. That is why IDA BEAUSSART was there since the very writing of the script, present all the time & following the filming to give as many precissions as needed, about her everyday life back in 1989.
The main title suffered many changes : "Ida", "Ida and the Salomé's Nazi", "The dictation", "Final solution", etc. The final title was found during the editing. "Cry in silence" is an accurate summary of Ida's desperate situation. Above all, it will be the last words she will hear from her father while he was alive.
