Jonny G aka 'The Young Lion' is the new kid amongst DJ'ing legends Chicken George, E double D, DJ Kingston and Uncle Ade on the Underground Radio Network's 'Thursday & Friday Night Hype' on Aston 89.1 FM and blesses the airwaves with 3 distinct sounds. He takes you to the clubs with 30 minutes of the biggest tracks in UK Funky land, then to the whip with some R&B bangers and to the bedroom with the smooth sounds of Neo Soul and Slow Jams. Every Thursday it's all bout the 'The Selection After Next' show, make sure you don't miss it!!
If you miss the show on a Thursday, there is an extended 2 hour show every Saturday from 3 - 5 in the afternoon on www.soulradio.uk.com - an up and coming online radio station dedicated to all things soulful.
Jonny started off life as a DJ in September 2006 on a now defunct station called Warrior FM. Pushed into it by 1/3rd of his Goodfellaz family DJ Bounce, He's always had a love for real music and made a name for himself as a key member of the 1xtra forum. After quickly picking up the art of DJ'ing he took to the clubs of London and played a residency for 'Keep the Faith', a night dedicated to showcasing new talent and the best in soulful music. Jonny moved on from both Warrior FM and Keep the faith to do a brief stint on internet station 'Soul City FM' for Birmingham DJ Ganzi and hit the Birmingham club scene, playing along side DJ partner and final 3rd member of the Goodfellaz crew Mr.Smoove at Liberties Night Club and a number of other key nights in and around Birmingham and the Midlands. Jonny and Smoove then moved on to hold down a Residency at DY10 nightclub in Kidderminster before Jonny took a break to switch from CD's to turntables with Serato. During May 2008 he started working with Rachel Moulden, an amazingly talented vocalist and song writer from Birmingham, helping her progress her career and find management. Rachel aka Willoe is now under the management of Radio 1xtra's DJ B and is currently putting pen to paper on a major deal. During this time he was offered a spot on London based interent station Soul Radio (www.soulradio.uk.com), the show continues to go from strength to strength each week as the station's fanbase grows. In Decemeber the Underground Radio Network offered Jonny a slot on the Birmingham airwaves every Friday night on Aston 89.1FM. Since late Decemeber the Birmingham airwaves have been blessed with his unique style and selection, something that won't be found on any other station or network in the West Midlands.
