Mostly, I love local music, including bands that I was in: D.W.I., Stillhope, FullSpread, and Fits of Rage.
But also, these bands, which include both friends and family, as well as those who are, in essence, both:
BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA, JAKT, ELYSIUM, BROADSLAB, HOLD BACK THE DAY, HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT, TWISTED MISERY, DYZE OF BLUE.
I certainly loved music of these bands from the past:
TREACHEROUS, SUICIDE KINGZ, SAD, IX DAY FALL, AS I FALL, DOMAIN, KRUSHA, COLLISION, SHUN, and others!
Movies
UNFORGIVEN, SLINGBLADE, OMEN (original), PIT AND THE PENDULUM (the one with Vincent Price), MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH, OBLONG BOX, MAJOR LEAGUE, LIAR/LIAR, 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN, DONNY BRASCO, CASINO, CARRIE, MISERY and more. . .
Television
Old sitcoms: SANFORD and SON, THREE'S COMPANY, ALL in the FAMILY, ANDY GRIFFITH.
News Networks: FOXNEWS, MSNBC, CNN, CSPAN.
Music Channels: oh yeah, they stopped playing real music in the 90s, which is the same time videos started to suck.
Sports Channels: ESPN, ESPN2, all the FOX sports networks, and it would be nice to have NFL NETWORK.
Books
Here's the cover of the one I wrote. You can read an excerpt at JWRUNYON.COM. So feel free to visit and leave a message in the Guestbook. Even take the survey.
I think I like Newspapers more than books, but I do love some TRUE CRIME novels and Encyclopedias. I also have read and still read Horror and Suspense Fiction novels. I like poetry, and sports columns.
My favorite writers:
EDGAR ALLAN POE, Harold Schechter, John Saul, and of course, the old Stephen King works.
I'm currently reading: Tim Green's "Exact Revenge"
Heroes
Poe, Babe Ruth, Jesus Christ, Theodore Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan.
About me:
On March 28th, 1976, a poor couple, with their marriage in a state of rapid detereoration and two children already, brought forth a son named James Walter Runyon. This kid, a scrawny, somewhat gangly youngin, (and who would develop strange mannerisms in the future), was named after James Walter Damron, a good friend of the family where they lived in West Virginia.
James' parents could probably see the kid was no good at an early age, and I imagine, they considered throwing him down the well, or feeding him to the neighbor's hogs. Yet, they kept him around for no other purpose than to gasp each day in disbelief that the good Lord could create such a being.
Anyway, it came to pass that James' mother and father couldn't keep the marriage together. Probably because they were constantly blaming each other's side of the family for the kids deformities and all-around strangeness. So, in the bitter cold months of 1980, they split ways. Even though his mother fought to pawn the kid of on his Dad, Pops, it seemed wanted no part of it. (And who could blame him) On that fateful day, he was shipped off to Ohio, where his mother would move in with her sister and her husband.
There, the freakish kid, actually accumulated a handful of friends. (Though his enemies far out-numbered them) He spent his days playing baseball and running from cruel neighbor kids. Once, he was even bashed in the head with a bag of those miniature army men by a teenager who thought the boys image was disgusting.
Somehow, this tactic failed to rid the world of the unfortunate, bastardly kid. For the next several years, until he was twelve, he resided there with his mother and siblings. When, suddenly, he became frustrated with his life, and chose to move back to his Father's residence.
Finally, after several butt-whoopins from Daddyo, James began to catch onto this thing called life. . .
. . .to be continued.
Who I'd like to meet: I would love to meet my Grandmother Norma, (on my father's side), who died when he was just a child. Also, my Aunt Muriel Jean, (on my mother's side), who was killed in an accident when she was 13. I'd also like to meet a living president, Harold Schechter, and a descendant of E.A.P.
