no band. i fly solo, but have had the privilege of having some pretty stinkin good dudes play with me, rather... me try and sing along to their brilliance.

i (ji) have always had a love for music from a young age. i grew up watching Annie, the Sound of Music and the Wizard of Oz every year and remember my mom singing and teaching my brother and me a whole bunch of songs. i so wish i had those recordings...
anyway, like many asian parents, mine put me in front of the piano from the age of 4. i looooathed practicing... but i did love to sing along and choreograph dance moves with my friends to our favorite Madonna and Michael and Janet Jackson songs. i sang in the school chorus from 4-7th grade and even played a year of clarinet in the school orchestra during my 4th grade year. i bombed my try outs for 8th grade chorus and didn't make it that year. when that happened, i dabbled for a number of years in art.
during one of our summer breaks in high school, i met Jesus, which totally changed my life (and would rock yours, too), and this time, music became my partner in crime. by then, i'd stopped taking piano lessons, but someone taught me a few chords on the guitar. thanks to the Indigo Girls, i learned the language of harmony, and i fell in love with music in a new way (props to 10,000 Maniacs, REM and U2). i got involved with singing again, and in college i wrote my first song and have tried my hand at writing here and there ever since. some are all right. some i like a lot. but most are just eh, and no one will ever hear those... ha! but i'm pretty sure the key is to just keep writing, isn't it?
until recently (as in, june 2007), i was mostly singing and leading worship in various churches and coffeehouses in the southeast portion of the US, primarily in and around my hometown of atlanta, GA. i can say that i've had the privilege of singing with some of my favorite musicians, people i look up to so much, and i am such a runt in those packs that it's just ridiculous. oh... and i have sung in more weddings than most people will ever even attend in a lifetime. so i guess you can call me "the wedding singer" but not if you want me to be your friend. jk. i'm not even that good of a soloist and have such a small range. but one wedding song led to another, which led to another, and you know... so on.
currently, i am studying abroad at Hillsong College near Sydney, Australia. i am a very happy little fish in a great huge pond here. i'm learning so much. it is a watering hole for the hungry, and it only makes me want more. i'm so thankful for this season...
anyway, one thing is for certain: i am passionate for Jesus and to see His name written without compromise on the church's lips and lives in order that the world would know His unfailing love.
i love to sing & laugh. although i hate GOING to parties, i love throwing one and/or generally spending time with people. i am privileged to be a part of a revival generation, and bringing glory to God (and sometimes through music). all honor to Jesus Christ.
Thanks Ji! wanted it to flow with the rest of the record...it was the 11th addition to the CD...not just track 11... i added it late in the game cause it moved me like crazy...i heard about it in January when Mary Fortson came back.
talked to Mike Gug about it...he said he dug it and i got the license from his group etc...
excited to share it with people around here that arent familiar with the circles that song is in... so far its ministering to those who hear it...
