I’m pleased to announce the release of a new and free EP on Ideation Records. It’s been a bit of a quiet year for gigs but here is part of the reason why.
Ideation over the last year has focused on bringing the truly experimental to Edinburgh, showcasing some of the producers of the best breakcore, gabba, IDM, glitch and dark dnb, from around the world, at our monthly club night Audacious. Now with their own label they continue this excellent work, I strongly suggest you check out their entire catalogue.
Jilk has earned the catalogue number of IDEA005, the EP is called A Plot To Place Bits and involves such exciting highlights as sampling TV’s ‘The Wire’ (perhaps the only reason you need to download this). Things look a little like this...

NEW JILK EP AVAILABLE THROUGH WEFT LABEL ... FOR FREE!!!
Firstly, Happy New Year, and all that... Now that is out of the way, Jilk starts 2009 as he means to go on and has hooked up with one of the Bristol electronic scenes most familiar names, the good Mr Gusset.
Gusset is currently in labour with his very own Weft... A net label aimed at giving exposure at the best in unsigned gabba, breakeat and anything through to Jilk's familiar lush, clicky ambience... and for now, giving their work away for FREE!
Jilk has earned the catalogue number of WEFT003, and has become Weft's first outsider to gain a full online release. WEFT003 has taken the shape of a 5 track EP entitled 'Housewarming', and features some of Jilk's most tender and intricate work to date. Things look a little like this...
In other Jilk related news... Our clicks & cuts boy was featured as Bristol based net-Radio station Skip To The End special guest for the evening, where he was fully grilled about all things "Jilk", past, present and forthcoming future, and as well as featuring several classic Jilk tracks, also featured a specially composed 30minute DJ mix, exclusive to Skip To The End.

"The overall sound echoes that of Bloc Party but with great conviction and sophistication. Go see them live if you can." - iTunes review.
It's also available to buy through our website and itunes if you really do like it.

The 1st release on Acroplane by Lackluster. 'One of a kind' is the expression which best describes the Finnish electronic music auteur Esa Ruoho, regardless whether we are talking about the organic quality of his music under the artist name Lackluster or just the artist himself in his private life. Esa Ruoho is truly an original; a homegrown and uncompromising composer and an eccentric explorer of science and nature.
He has been composing since the mid-1990s and is no stranger to the electronic music idiom. Since 2000, Ruoho has played numerous musical performances in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Ireland, England, Austria, Poland, Russia, Latvia and Estonia. He has done remixes for various artists including Machinedrum, Hecq, Proem, and Kilowatts.
Labels he has previously released on include Merck, deFocus, U-Cover, Monotonik and SLSK.
Our 2nd release from Dublin's Ewan Hennelly, aka Herv. In recent years he has become one of Ireland's best-known electronic musicians, amassing a considerable catalogue of releases on labels both at home and abroad.
Check out his live show if you get the chance. While much of his recorded output concerns itself with complex melodic and percussive interplay, his live sets lean more towards the harder end of the electronic spectrum, mixing chaotic chip tunes alongside breakcore and gabba. In the past, Herv has played with artists such as Venetian Snares, Shitmat, Jason Forrest, Duran Duran Duran, Dev/Null, Xanopticon, Hrvatski, Chevron, Aaron Spectre, Dj Scotch Egg, Ove-naxx, Doddodo, and Max Tundra.
hey jilk. nice one for add. still not managed to see ya live but ben capp's mad about it, and judging from the comment below, looks like you've found love with the chassises too. X
Burly Chassis listens to Jilk, kicks back and closes it's eyes and feels something rising up in it's throat... holy shit, it's Jilk's bollock! First thought: that's not very nice. Burly Chassis swills it around in its mouth for a bit and gives a chew and discovers that infact it's surprisingly sweet and tender, yet a little like broccoli in texture. Odd, but pleasant.
