Once upon a time, a formal biography lived in this little “About Me” box.... until I realized just how ‘formal’ it was. If you’re interested in reading it, you can check it out in its new home in my blog section. Otherwise, please read on for the revised, friendlier version:
I don’t know the time or the day I began singing... but I do know that it’s all I’ve ever wanted to do. I began songwriting around 12 or 13 (after my very first major heartbreak), playing guitar at 14 (after I realized A. how much it helped my songwriting and B. how cute guitar teachers could be...), and somewhere down the line, I picked up piano again (After quitting around the age of eleven like every rebellious pre-teen does). Luckily, I’ve never lacked things, feelings or [un]fortunate events, in both life & love, to write about... So as long as I keep living, I'll keep writing. I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way.
As I grew up, there was no doubt in my mind that I was going to be a musician, but I also had my heart set on getting a college education first. These two factors led me straight to Berklee College of Music in Boston, where I majored in Songwriting and graduated with a Music degree. What an amazing world it is to have the ability to do that... and I loved every second of it. [...Aside from the homework. And the midterms. And the finals...]
So all of that brought me to today, 23 and happy as can be, where things continue to unfold in the perfect direction. I’ve left Boston, though I miss it terribly, and have since moved to New York City, which has me falling in love with a city all over again. I’m currently in the studio recording my very first full-length album, which will be out in Fall 2009[!]. Once that’s complete, the plan is to hit the road, play some shows and have a drink with each one of you amazing people. Or, at the very least, get to meet you! :)
So... that’s the basics. However, your best bet in really getting to know me is to listen to my songs. Read my blogs. Check out my photographs. Subscribe to my e-mail list [below!] so I can write you all love letters from time to time. Because I am more than what a few paragraphs could ever explain... and so are you. So take a few minutes and write to me too, because an artist is nothing without those who are listening. Getting comments and messages from you guys means the absolute world to me. So keep in touch, don’t be a stranger, and visit often. ♥ [....I dare you.]
