Jilly Martin is a native of Chelmsford, MA. She started singing in church at the age of seven. Gradually, she started performing at local talent shows and competitions. At the age of 12, she joined the Massachusetts Country Music Association and began performing with bands in the association. By the age of 13, she had become the Massachusetts Junior Performer of the Year, voted on by the members of the association. She also won the title in New Hampshire and was then qualified to compete nationally and won the title, “Country Music Association of America Junior Female Vocalist of the Year in the categories: New Country, Traditional and Gospel.”
The following summer she began performing with the John Penny Band, a distinguished band in the New England area that started the successful career of Jo Dee Messina. Since she started with the John Penny Band, Jilly opened for acts like the Bellamy Brothers, Tommy Cash, Mark Chestnutt, Wade Hayes, George Jones, Neal McCoy, Collin Raye, Ricky Van Shelton, Michael Twitty and Darryl Worley. She performs with this band at many events and fairs in the New England area such as: the Topsfield Fair, the Cracker Barrel Fair, the Shriner’s Rodeos and has provided entertainment on the track of a NASCAR race at the Loudon, NH International Speedway.
In 2007, Jilly spent the better part of the year in Nashville recording demos and background vocals. She showcased at Douglas Corner and performed at many of the infamous clubs downtown including Tootsie’s and The Stage. Also during that year, she was selected to open for Randy Travis at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium. She got the chance to open for Gretchen Wilson at the South Shore Music Circus as well as the Cape Cod Melody Tent and Loretta Lynn at Indian Ranch in Webster, MA!
In the summer of 2008, Jilly opened again for Gretchen Wilson at the South Shore Music Circus and expanded her list of opening acts to include Josh Turner at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom.
For her talent Jilly has received many accolades which include: MCMAA Junior Performer of the Year 1998-2002, New Hampshire Country Music Awards Association Junior Performer of the year in the categories: traditional, new country and gospel, New England Country Showdown Junior Performer of the Year, was named the Country Music Organization of America Junior Female Vocalist of the Year in the categories: New Country, Traditional and Gospel, and was inducted into the Massachusetts Country Music Awards Association Gallery of Greats for winning at least three consecutive years. Among her list of accomplishments, Jilly has had the honor of performing the “National Anthem” at many events such as games for the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, New England Revolution, Hockey East Championships, Merrimack College hockey and football games, the Groton House Horse Trials and for the award ceremonies at the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event.
After graduating from UMass Lowell in December with a bachelor's of Science in Business Administration, Jilly has moved to Nashville to continue pursuing her music!
